Today I purchased a car harness for king I had to buy xs because of his size thinking it will be a bit big (which it is) not by much he is a pound to small. I think it is a wonderful tool because when I am alone with king in the car he is either biting me do death (him sitting on my lap which I never liked) or he is whinning because he is on the floor and I am trying to keep him there (major distraction when driving) I wanted to try this put it on him when we left the pet store and my my I had a dog that sat there layed down soooo good he did chew on one part but stopped him its great, taking him out again with it tonight have to get him used to it more.......

Yeah I think those are a really good idea. :thumbs up Chase behaves in the car but I'm always scared for his safety. I just found a leash made by "bamboo" that converts into a doggie car harness. Saving up for it now....it's such a great idea!

Yup, you sure can get car harnesses for big dogs! My dog is a mal/lab mix, and she weighs about 65 lbs (she's 11 months old, so now we're playing the "how big will she get" game ). I have a nice harness for her that is a three-in-one. I have yet to figure out what the third function is  but it's made by RC pet products which I think is a Canadian company. It can be used for walking the dog, I find it REALLY cut down pulling for Sola. It has a loop in the back so you can belt the dog in the seat of your car. I personally think dogs should be restrained in vehicles, for their safety and the driver and passengers. Sola has certainly distracted me when I was driving, which was part of the impetus for the harness. I've been happy with any products I've purchased from this company- tough fabric and buckles. The retailer I buy from said they were guaranteed, but I had trouble finding any info on their policies on the site:

Well took king out tonight with the harness he managed to get out of it on both ways so when I got home I took the top two and sewed them together making sure that I can still get it on and off, hopefully it works...we will find out tomorrow on the way to the vets.......

My guy has 4 of the harnesses/seat belts used by SolaMio. They are great. And definitely they come in a size to fit your dog. My 22 lb. Eskimo wears size Small - he is at the "cusp" - Small fits up to 25 lbs. Then the Medium goes 25 to 45 lbs. - which is was only to 35 lbs. because it would give me a little more wiggle room when Eskie's Daddy gives him too many treats. I did try the M but it was way to long. Sizes keep just going up and the big dogs my Groomer owns all have this particular harness - and it washes well too. The only thing I have had to watch is the sizing - at least in the Small. I have wondered if they Cdn. company has 2 manufacturers because sometimes the Small is about 3/4 of an inch shorter on each buckle side which is a problem with my dog being so close to the upper end of the size chart. Fortunately we buy them from his Groomer so he gets to try them on when ordered - if his "colour" is not in stock. Some people in the US ordered on-line and made sure they told the supplier that they needed the "big" Small as their Eskies also weighed same as mine.

Today King never got out of the harness since I sewed the top part together he wieghs 4.5 pounds now which makes him half a pound to small so not to bad. I can let it out when he gets bigger and only use it when we are driving in town on long trips he will be in the crete...

A car harness is wonderful.. It safer for driving , no distractions, and if ( hope never happens) there was a serious accident your pet isn't going to wonder off. I can't imagine going through such an awful thing as a serious accident and than to have to worry about where your pet is or if they are ok on top of it.... So BUCKLE UP "PUPPY"
