My golden has "spells".

My 12 year old golden retriever has been having "spells" where she becomes confused, drools, and staggers around the yard until her legs collapse under her. It takes her about 3 hours to "come out of it" and return to normal. What could this be? She eats well and is not over-weight. Thanks.

What did your vet say about these spells?

Sounds like a seizure. Could be caused by something neurological. A vet would know much more.

I had a sheltie that had similar spells right around the age of 12 or 13. First they said it was "old rolling dog syndrome", a virus that would pass.It didn't pass, and with more testing, it was decided it was an advanced stage of lyme desease, you might ask the vet to test for that. Hope things are okay..
