Good Evening Everyone,

Got a question/would like opinion on early spaying or neutering and it's affects.

Please anyone and everyone opinion and or experience is very welcome!!!!!

Does it affect them not growing any more in size (meaning height and length)?

Thank you.......:thankyou:

I have read a lot of opposing views on this (there was a good thread on this a while ago, try to search for it).

Opinions vary depending on the breed of dog that you have. We have a GSD and two independent vets indicated that for large breed dogs it is best to wait until the long bones have finished growing (about 10 months for GSDs) to allow for the joints to form properly. I have also read some research that stated that neutring early may lead to a dog developing a more "tall" frame vs the bulky frame. There is also supposed to be an effect on temprament, but this is not a concern for everyone.

Some pet insurance providers state that if you dont neuter you dog by the age of 1, then they will not cover a certain list of illnesses.
