My vet said that my dog got a staph infection from lawn chemicals. Is that possible? Any knowledge would be hepful. Are there any other causes?

Staph infections can be secondary to inflammation caused by other means. Allergies, contact irritation, arthropod stings or bites, food allergies are some other possibilities. The lawn chemical irritation is possible depending upon the type of lawn chemical, the amount of exposure and the pet's skin response to the chemicals. :pawprint:

When we were living in the city and mowing more, our dogs used to get staph infections on their bellies and feet just from getting poked with the short grass blades. We never used any chemicals on the lawn. Any time the skin is abraded or punctured, it's possible to get an infection, but for some reason grass seemed to be particularly troublesome for our dogs. One thing that helped, believe it or not, was not cutting the grass so short. The less stubbly it was, the fewer infections they came down with. :D
