new mum snapping at her new born puppies

hi just wondering if anyone can tell me why my chichuahua female which has just had her first puppies some times get a bit snappy at the puppies they are only 20 hours old and this is her first time and it has me a bit worried as i was thinking that i mite have to hand raise them any help would be great thank new new grandad and granmum ....

You might. Talk to your vet or mentor to make sure that you meet all the puppies nutritional needs. Also, make sure they show you how to do it properly.

So far as I know, there is no way to make her like her puppies. Since this is likely to escalate with future litters, you might also want to talk to your vet about spaying her.

we had a pom on my grams farm that did the same and at age 48 hours, she killed them. Your chi doesn't have the "mom" instinct in her, it happens, she would be best spayed. She could also have sore teats, if she's very young then that could possibly be the reason. she wasn't finished growing
