SOUTHERNPHILLY June 28th, 2004, 04:09 PM i Would Like Your Opinion On This Matter. I Have Already Reached My Opinion. Just Wondering If I'm Thinking Correctly my Cat Was Missing For 1 Wwek. I Posted Signs Everywhere. I Had A Call From A Neighbor And She Said There Was Something Out In Their Garage And It May Be My Cat. I Went To Check And Sure Enough It Was My Frederick. This Man Had Set Traps In His Garage To Catch What He Said He Didn't Know Was A Cat. The Cat Had Torn The Curtains In The Garage And I Paid Them For The Damage. He Said That Was His Property And That Cat Should Not Have Been There. Anyway What Do You Think About A Man That Said He Didn't Know What Kind Of Animal Was In His Garage That's Why He Set The Traps.
chico2 June 28th, 2004, 04:12 PM Personally I think he's an idiot for putting out any traps at all and then not even checking what was trapped,a cruel man,no doubt!!
Luba June 28th, 2004, 05:10 PM WOW ALL CAPS AND BOLD TOO!!
Looks like you need to keep the cat inside!
Some people are blessed with good neighbours and others aren't. Are you sure your cat was there for a week though?

YES, HIS WIFE SAID HE HAD IT TRAPPED THERE FOR 1 WEEK. MY CAT VANISHED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAVEN'T SEEN MY CAT. I PUT POSTERS UP ALL OVER THE PLACE AGAIN AND ALSO HAD ONE ON THIS MANS STREET. I NOTICED THE SIGNS LOCATED ON HIS STREET WERE DISAPEARING. I PUT UP 5 DIFFERENT SIGNS ON HIS STREET AT THE SAME LOCATION THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY PUT IT. I HAD AN IDEA HE WAS PULLING THE SIGNS DOWN ON HIS STREET. SO, WHEN I PUT UP THE 5TH SIGN I WAITED IN THE WOODS TO SEE FOR MYSELF WHAT WAS GOING ON. I WAITED WITH MY PACK OF CIG'S FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES. I HEARD A MOTORCYLE AND SAW A MAN RIDING IT. I WATCHED HIM PULL UP TO THE SIGN. HE JUST LOOKED FOR A MOMENT AND THEN SUDDENLY HE STARTED TEARING IT OFF THE TELEPHONE POLE LIKE A MAD MAN. I COULD WAIT NO LONGER IN THE WOODS. I RUSHED OUT AND HOLLERED ,YOU KILLED MY CAT DIDN'T YOU??? HE BARELY LOOKED AT ME AND SAID WHY WOULD I KILL YOUR CAT? MY REPLY WAS,WHY DO YOU KEEP TEARING DOWN MY SIGNS??!! HE TURNED AND TOOK OFF DOWN TO THE DEAD END OF HIS STREET WITH THE SIGN IN HIS HAND. WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT??

CAPS AND BOLD IS HOW I FEEL!!
Luba June 28th, 2004, 11:12 PM Sorry for what happened to your cat.
Hope you have a non bold capped day soon, sounds like you need it ;)
chico2 June 29th, 2004, 06:53 AM Southernfilly!
I am really sorry about your cat,but I also thought after the first scare you would keep her at home.
I am not going to preach to you about letting your cat roam, but it's exactly because of all the dangers out there,be it nasty people, other animals, traffic, any of which could injure or kill your cat.
I have seen several cats being scraped off my road, read about people taking pleasure in torturing cats, coyote attacks etc...I would never, ever let my cats roam the neighborhood,I love them too much.
I am hoping your girl will come back and that if she does, you keep her in the house,or take her out supervised, not letting her run off.
badger June 29th, 2004, 07:30 AM I'd have a word with the police, this guy sounds like a WACKO. People who kill animals -and setting traps means he intended to - sometimes go on to harm people. Maybe an interview with the cops will sort him out. Funny his WIFE doesn't have a problem with his behaviour - or maybe she's scared of him. Strange situation. I hope your cat comes back. KEEP HIM INSIDE. A small price to pay for avoiding an ASSAULT charge (or it would be in my case). Definitely don't put yourself in harm's way. But if you have animal cruelty laws in your state, the police will be interested, even if you don't have a dead cat (sorry) to show them.
CAPS ARE FUN!
chico2 June 29th, 2004, 07:41 AM I have to agree with Badger to a point, here in Ontario you can trap cats or coons or whatever, but it has to be done humanely and it is absolutely against the law to harm the animal in any way.
Unless you can prove this man killed your cat and is a violent man,you do not have a leg to stand on.
badger June 29th, 2004, 08:02 AM You're right, Chico, without evidence they wouldn't be able to charge him with anything, and the traps are inside his garage so they can't get him on that. I would simply go to the police and bring this man to their attention, have all these events written up. The beauty of it is, IF they archive the information in the right place, IF there is a problem on his block, particularly concerning animals (two big IFS), his name is gonna pop up. The police WANT to know about these people and frankly, I WANT the police to know about them too. In Canada, for instance, they would be able to find out if he had registered any guns. THAT would be useful; what if he started taking pot-shots at people's pets? All it takes is one bad day.
I think I might be watching too much TV...

Is this cat Graybo?
chico2 June 29th, 2004, 08:53 AM Yes Badger, you might be watching too much TV :D it's like me and Animal Planets "Animal Patrol",where all abused, sick animals, get rescued and given a new lease on life in new homes. It's probably very far from the sad reality
Also,as I told before,we have a"nut-case"in our neighborhood, putting threatening notes in several houses, about burning houses down because we are all spawn of the Devil  She has been convicted before of arson,as she so bluntly tells in her notes.
In the beginning I kept my cat-carriers in my bed-room,just in case.
I called the police with several of the notes in hand, they would not even talk to her,but put our complaints on file,in case one of our houses burns down....great comfort
As for this animal-hater,I suppose telling the police about his behavior might help and who knows,he might have a record..
Still, the surest way to keep a cat out of harms way,is to keep him/her close to you and I think we both agree on that :D
chico2 June 29th, 2004, 09:01 AM Sammiec,I looked back and Graybo died from supposedly drinking anti-freeze,maybe given by the angry neighbor...
Either way, with those kind of happenings you protect your cats you"love"sooo much and keep them safe inside!!

I figured it out - this is another cat that's missing. Fredrick?? K, one question, Graybo was possibly poisoned by this neighbour and now it's suspected that the nieghbour killed Fredrick too - there's something VERY wrong with this situation!!! I don't think my cat would have been leaving my sight after the first was killed...
chico2 June 29th, 2004, 09:22 AM Yes,Sammie she/he has several cats, also I doubt Graybo died from anti-freeze,given the finicky nature of,at least all the cats I've had, they would not lap up anti-freeze,he was more than likely poisoned
I don't want to cause any disturbances :D but letting ANY cat out with these happenings is totally irresponsible,so,Southernfilly smarten up and take care of your cats, please!!
badger June 29th, 2004, 09:29 AM I'd get my hide and my animals outta South Philly, that's for sure. Life's too short.
chico2 June 29th, 2004, 10:26 AM Oops,I missed that one,thought we were"talking"to a Southern Bell,but it's obviously Philly,oh well....
glasslass June 29th, 2004, 02:09 PM Cats are attracted to anti-freeze. One of my friends cats died from it and his vet told him it was fairly common. Dogs, also. All it takes is a tiny tiny amount of it. They don't need to drink it. :(
SOUTHERNPHILLY June 29th, 2004, 11:07 PM Is this cat Graybo?
NO, HIS NAME WAS FREDERICK. HE DISAPPEARED AGAIN. THIS TIME HE NEVER CAME HOME. GRAYBO DIED OF INGESTING ANTIFREEZE. WHERE THE ANTIFREEZE CAME FROM I AM STILL INVESTIGATING. I HAVE A NEIGHBOR IN THE REAR OF MY HOUSE THAT I AM GOING TO CHECK OUT HIS YARD FOR TRAPS. ONE NIGHT I WAS SITTING ON MY BACK DECK AND SAW A MAN WALKING IN MY NEIGBORS BACK YARD. I CALLED HER TO CHECK IF HER HUSBAND WAS OUT THERE. SHE SAID NO HE WAS IN THE HOUSE. SHE TOLD ME TO CALL THE POLICE. THEN AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE. HER HUSBAND SAID YES HE HAD BEEN IN THE BACK YARD PUTTING OUT FOOD FOR THE DOGS(MY DOGS). I ASK HER WHERE HE WENT AND HE TOLD HER HE JUST WALKED OUT TO THE TREE DIRECTLY AT THEIR BACK DOOR AND CAME BACK IN. WELL, I SAW HIM GO TO THE OTHER END OF THE HOUSE NOT TO THE TREE DIRECTLY AT THE BACK DOOR. WHAT I PLAN ON DOING IS GETTING MY CELL PHONE, MY DIGITAL CAMERA AND MY BAT AND LOOK AROUND THE AREA I SAW HIM GO IN. HE MAY BE TAKING SCRAPS TO A CAGE OF SOME SORT AND TRAPPING ANIMALS BECAUSE I HAVE LOST 3 CATS SINCE LIVING HERE AND ONLY ONE(GRAYBO) CAME HOME. I NEVER SAW ANOTHER SIGN OF THE OTHER TWO CATS. THEY JUST VANISHED.

I DID CALL THE GUILFORD COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT AND ASK THEM TO CHECK OUT THIS MAN WITH THE GARAGE AND HIS PRECIOUS GARDEN (VEGGIES) I WANTED THE OFFICER TO CHECK FOR TRAPS. BUT, INSTEAD OF THIS COP CHECKING ON TRAPS HE TOLD THE MAN HOW TO GET RID OF ME BOTHERING HIM. THIS NEIGHBOR TOOK ME TO COURT FOR TRESPASSING BECAUSE I SAW HIM WORKING IN HIS GARDEN AND STOPPED TO ASK IF HE HAD SEEN MY CAT BECAUSE HE WAS MISSING AGAIN. HE COMPLETELY IGNORED ME. HURRIED TO HIS HOUSE AND I SHOUTED OUT CAT KILLER!! CRAZY RETIRED POSTAL WORKER!!! WELL, WE WENT TO COURT AN OF COURSE I WAS THE VILLIAN. THE JUDGE ASK IF I WOULD BOTHER MY NEIGHBOR AGAIN AND I REPLYED WITH A HONEST REPLY "NOT UNLESS HE GIVES ME REASON TO" I WAS FOUND QUILTY AND APPEALED THE CONVICTION. I HAVE HEARD NOTHING ELSE FROM IT. I NEVER RETURNED TO COURT. AT LEAST NOW IT'S WRITTEN DOWN IN THE COURT HOUSE BOOKS. MAYBE HIS DAYS ARE NUMBERED. I WANT TO DO DONUTS IN HIS GARDEN SO BAD I CAN TASTE IT. I HOPE YOU DON'T THINK I'M CRAZY. I'M SICK OF EVIL PEOPLE!! JUST REMEMBER, GOD HAS IT ALL WRITTEN DOWN..YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. VENGEANCE IS MINE SAETH THE LORD,I WILL REPAY. THESE SO CALLED HUMANS HAVE TO ANSWER FOR THEIR EVIL,MEAN WAYS..
SOUTHERNPHILLY June 29th, 2004, 11:31 PM I'd get my hide and my animals outta South Philly, that's for sure. Life's too short.
HEY THERE, SOUTHERPHILLY IS NOT PHILIDELPHIA(sp.) IT STANDS FOR SOUTHERN GIRL. NORTH CAROLINA..REDNECK,HILLBILLIES
LavenderRott June 29th, 2004, 11:32 PM So let me get this straight. You started out with three cats. One was killed by antifreeze poisoning. One disappeared before now. And now the third cat has disappeared.
Is anybody home??????????
Since you don't seem to think it is necessary to keep your cats in your house, what makes you so sure your neighbor killed your cats? It could have been hit by a car, licked antifreeze off of someone's driveway, attacked and killed by a dog. Picked up by some kid who thought it was dumped.
Let me tell you. If your cat was taking a dump in my yard, I would catch it and take it to animal control. Just because you seem to think that your cat should be running all over the neighborhood, doesn't mean your neighborhood has to like it.
SOUTHERNPHILLY June 29th, 2004, 11:37 PM Yes Badger, you might be watching too much TV :D it's like me and Animal Planets "Animal Patrol",where all abused, sick animals, get rescued and given a new lease on life in new homes. It's probably very far from the sad reality

THIS(ME) OLE REDNECK WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR!!

Either way, with those kind of happenings you protect your cats you"love"sooo much and keep them safe inside!!
I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT KEEPING MY PETS INSIDE. BUT, THEY HAVE GOTTEN A TASTE OF THE WILD AND IT'S HARD.
sammiec June 30th, 2004, 06:58 AM I figured it out - this is another cat that's missing. Fredrick?? K, one question, Graybo was possibly poisoned by this neighbour and now it's suspected that the nieghbour killed Fredrick too - there's something VERY wrong with this situation!!! I figured it out before, this post was right after the one that you quoted. :) Can can train the "wild" out of your pets. Put them on a leash outside, then you know for sure they are in your yard. Please keep them safe.
Luba June 30th, 2004, 09:22 PM So keep getting cats and keep letting them out and you can just make a notch in your porch railing everytime you end up finding one dead!
chico2 June 30th, 2004, 10:30 PM Actually, the whole thing sounds like a horrorstory and the cats are the victims...Teaching a cat to stay inside,is not all that difficult, just put earplugs in your ears.Your concern for what they want,is killing them
Why rescue cats,if they end up dead anyway
Rhonda Rae Gibs July 2nd, 2004, 01:56 PM Hon, I'm so sorry to hear such a cruel thing happened to your kitty. If it were THAT big a deal to the 'ole fart then he would have checked that trap EVERY day. Any adult with common sense when you have "flyers" and this is a neighbor who ignores what he is positive is an animal in his garage is purposely imposing emotional, physical and financial distress upon you and your helpless kitty cat. Did you take pics of the cat immediatly afterwards? Did you document a physical exam at the vet? Is this non-typical behavior for your kitty? (he may have lured it in there with something) Did your kitty cat have a collar or tags? (even with no collar, you had the flyers and the man had his knowledge and lied to you). Contact your local humane society and the police, get that thick skulled heartless monster to face responsibility for such action even if it must be by force or he is liable to do it to someone else and I'll bet this not the first time he excercised a fondness for abuse. Do you have witnesses or has anyone else in the neighborhood experienced a similar situation with this guy? (that part of the brain that controls empathy must be missing in some people).
I would also write a "Letter To The Editor" of every local newspaper in the county you live in to draw attention to what he did, don't put his name in it, but when he reads it he will know it is about him and the replies received will show him that animal cruelty does not make him smarter, powerful, respected or a law abiding citizen. I would take pure cat poop and put it in a baggy and sqeeze contents up under the door handles of his car so he gets it up under his fingernails before heading off to work....as a last resort only. (just kidding.....but wouldn't that be fun...lol).
I truly think you have a civil case.....he should not have charged you a dime and almost murdered your beloved pet. It's natural for cats to prowel and if your kitty does not have a past history of destruction or tresspassing then sock it to that lunitic as strong as you can dear. I would sue him for the money he charged you as well as your vet bill, time off work or time spent distributing flyers/making calls (cost of any long distance calls) and the waste of your time when he KNEW all along there was an animal (which he may have been luring with food or something) entering his garage, knew he had set a trap, knew you were desperately searching for your kitty and does not check his "oh so important" trap for a frickin' week (yeah....right). Is this idiot deaf or in need of hearing aids? Cats make noise when they are hungry, scared and locked up. That lunitic only ASSUMES your kitty damaged ANY of his property....he prolly wanted to trap "whatever" it was and set strong smelling food in that "trap" and your baby happened to smell it, I would not doubt that for a minute. Sue him for a thousand dollars. Embarrass him further by contacting one of those televised Judge shows so the entire nation can know what a "nice guy" that man is.
Please report him for animal cruelty, as a huge animal lover,....I'm OUTRAGED that such horrible people get away with this stuff. REPORT HIM!
Rhonda Rae Gibs July 2nd, 2004, 02:06 PM Set your OWN trap honey and post a few more signs, wait somewhere else this time so he doesn't suspect and THIS time instead of ciggs.....take a camera with you and snap a few shots of proof of him in the act, or better yet set up video suveillance. I don't understand why a kitty would want to return to a nightmare spot unless tricked into it but in the meantime I would keep all my pets on a chain or fenced in just to be safe. He must be a "cat hater" or else he has too much free time on his hands.
sammiec July 2nd, 2004, 02:15 PM Rhonda! Very good information that you have provided here, unfortunately this person is a TROLL (someone that posts stories to get a rise our of others) This person refuses to keep their cats indoors and protect them because they have gotten a "taste" of the wild and "can't train it out of them!" It has been thought that this neighbour did something to this persons other cat that has already passed away from getting into antifreeze; then this happened right after that. I don't see that this person did anything to help protect this cat from harm - if this story is even true.
Luba July 2nd, 2004, 09:42 PM Second that!
jenjen July 3rd, 2004, 07:10 PM I have to agree with chico.....Get earplugs!!!! There gonna cry and climb the screens but at least you know they are safe. My cat longs to be an outdoor kitty.........but shes not because I caan't handle the mental anguish of her being outside. This world is far too big and they are far too small to fend for themselves.....thats why they have us!!!!
