erykah1310 May 11th, 2008, 07:40 PM Well, I pop in from time to time, read a bit and carry on my way, but I figured it was time to put an update on my furry crew (as I have a few minutes to spare)
First... Karma, the not so small Tibetan Mastiff puppy

One soggy wet old Bailey, we have decided to keep him clipped "ugly" as he refuses to be a couch dog, he wants to live his life running with the big dogs, well he doesnt have much time left so more power to him, long pretty fur is a real pain to pull burrs out of.

OMG....that must have been horrible for you all. :grouphug: :grouphug: Has she completely recovered? :fingerscr :goodvibes:
erykah1310 May 12th, 2008, 04:16 PM OMG....that must have been horrible for you all. :grouphug: :grouphug: Has she completely recovered? :fingerscr :goodvibes:
Yeah but no.
She is "out of the woods" so to say for now. Thankfully with some good steriods and bed rest it did heal itself (saved me $2000+ for surgery costs with no guarantee)
However, it is weak and she does wheeze from time to time. Also she seems to choke alot more now on stupid things (meat chunks, bone pieces and even kibble) So she is unfortunately on a ground raw diet now and also kibble.
No more collars for Kita either, the vets would prefer it as we cant get a very clear picture with the xrays as to the extent of it all, but she gets oxygen on her own, and none is escaping into her face as it did the first night.
They idealy would like to put her under to get a really good look but intubation may make things worse and... they cant just sedate her as they do not like to sedate boxers or boxer mixes (probably other breeds with heart problems as well)
So, thats what "yeah but no" means
erykah1310 May 12th, 2008, 04:18 PM That picture of proud Bailey and his bad Karma just kills me! She looks like a shark! Looks like Karma is keeping your crew young at heart!
That she is! And she has reminded me why I didnt want any more pups too:D
Seriously though, shes not that bad... just going through a teenage attitude problem right now but I love the challenge. Definately is one heck of a different breed of dog TM's, the breeders were not exagerating.
chico2 May 12th, 2008, 04:27 PM Oh Erykah,GREAT to see all the puppers again,great pics:thumbs up
Karma really seems to rule the roost, she is beautiful:lovestruck:
Why do you say,Bailey does not have long to go:sad:is it old age or is he sick??
He certainly seems to have a wonderful life, except when nearly eaten by Karma:laughing:
I hope Kita will recover, what a terriible experience that must have been, both for you and poor Kita..
erykah1310 May 12th, 2008, 04:33 PM Why do you say,Bailey does not have long to go:sad:is it old age or is he sick??
Well, he is doing good at this moment but it is his heart. After his follow up a few months ago after we finally figured out what was wrong with him... the ballooned side of his heart is getting much worse. Soon he will be going on meds for it, BUT we are also concerned with his liver too.
All in all he is happy and seemingly healthy (and dont be fooled by the pics of killer Karma... he holds his own when need be) but I am starting to notice things that I just went through with Puppy as the "countdown" started.
We just dont let on that anything is wrong (to him), he wants to run and play so he does... he seems to die a little inside if we dont include him in the nightly romps in the field.
Being the retriever that he oh so desires to be (although he is now deaf as a door nail and potentially going senile) is what keeps him full of life.
onster May 12th, 2008, 09:48 PM great pics!
I remember when u were trying to pick a name for karma, and now look at her, soooo big already!!
She's just so cute. I love the one with the stick :cloud9:
chico2 May 13th, 2008, 07:17 AM Erykah,I remember now that Bailey had a heartpoblem:sad:but he is in the best of places to live out his life, all pups should be so lucky, your pups have an ideal life and you are a great pupper-mom!
