How LONG Does Your Dog Sleep?

that other sleeping dog thread had me asking if maybe Mister is a little unusual in how long he sleeps.

he sleeps like a rock all night long. barely crawls out of bed to go out and go potty before everyone leaves for school/work. then he comes back in the house, acts like a crazy dog for oh..... 5 minutes and then zonks out on the floor. if left to his own devices he will sleep more of the day than not. he is usually 'up for good' around 3ish until everyone goes to bed around 11. last summer i thought this was just a summer heat thing but he was that way all through the winter too.

Is he more active on the weekends when evryone is home?

If he's up from 3 til 11, that's 8 hours straight. That's more than my guys are awake in a straight run. It sounds like that's the routine he's in and it's working for him. Now mine will stay awake as long as we take them outside and stay out there working around the yard. Bring them in and chances are they'll go back to napping. Dogs and cats sleep a lot more than people do.
