As many of you know, my big boy Jake has slimmed down as of late.. He was 17 lbs for quite a long time, until I switched to exclusively feeding him Wellness grain free canned food, and he's now sitting at 12.76 lbs! (thanks baby scale! :thumbs up).

I don't have a lot of pictures of him before on my camera, and it's hard to take some after shots, because he's so fast, but here's what I have..

1. Here's Jake from a couple years back
2. Here's Jake in a similar pose in October before the diet change (I used to think he looked slimmer when he was sitting )
3. Here's Jake from the sameish angle now

The first picture doesn't do him justice, but he refuses to pose the way I want him to! :frustrated: It's hard to tell from that angle, but he's lost weight in his face alone! It's like looking at a different cat - every day I'm amazed at how slim and trim he is!

Yeah, he's definitely at his ideal - I'm working to keep him at the weight he is now, because he's a big kitty to begin with. I want to keep him close to 13lbs. :thumbs up

 That's what I said to my fiance last night - I wish I could switch to canned food and in a few months drop a good chunk of my body weight.. :) then I thought about it, and decided nahh.. Wellness is good food for cats, but if I won't even eat Spam, their chicken variety isn't going to do the trick either :yuck: :D

Wow he does look really good, you can tell he's slimmed down quite a bit.:thumbs up:lovestruck: I wish I had before and after pics for Fagan and Palomine... they really dropped the extra pounds when we moved.... I think it was all the cardio they got from suddenly having stairs!

Thanks guys! I honestly thought it was never going to happen - but that's because I was feeding him Iams Weight Management :yuck:
He's got so much more energy now - of course, he has to deal with Alley every day, which helps.. I guess..

wow what an improvement, good job, um I have a question to ask, how many times a day do u feed him the wet food?? my cats have to have food down at all times or they get sick, lil man especially if he goes a couple hours without food then eats he will throw up then go back & eat some more.

I feed them 4 times a day, only because Jake likes to eat frequently. I would split a 5.5 oz can of Wellness into 5 sections, and feed him one per meal (so that there would be one section left over for the next day). We feed them first thing in the morning, again a couple of hours later, then around 7 PM when I get home from work, and again at 10 PM.

Jake used to be a free feeder, but he got on board with the schedule pretty quickly, and he can definitely tell time - as soon as it's 10 PM - he's meowing for his late dinner!

Are you sure he's sick from not having food available at all times? It could be that he's allergic to the food instead ...
