Advice needed on join supplements!

I have a 1 year old female lab mix with 2 luxating patellas. The vet has labeled them "Grade 1" and doesnt think I need to consider surgery at this point.

However, she does think arthritis in the knees is going to be an issue sooner rather than later.

She advised me to get some joint supplements, and specifically suggested either Synovi or Cosequin.

I tried reading about them, but came back confused on the following issues:

1. Both have glucosamine, but only 1 has condroitin. Is this an issue?

2. One has MSM, an anti-inflammatory. Is this ok to give chronically?

3. One has creatine for building up muscle around the joint. Is this good?

It is best to use glucosamine and chondroitin together. The MSM, as you said, is an anti-inflammatory and very safe to use for pain management. And, the creatine would be an extra benefit.

Another thing you may want to consider is Cartrophen injections from your vet. You can administer them yourself once she shows you how.

One has glucosamine + condroitin

One has glucosamine + MSM + Creatine

Which would be better?
