I have a beagle that licks everything constatly. He is neutered but I have no idea on his background. He was a stray and I could not find the owners so we kept him. Vet thinks he is around 7 or so. He licks the couch, the other 2 dogs, me, my pants, the carpet. Whatever. We tried some medications but they did not seem to help. We have had him for 4 years and this has been going on all this time.

One of our dogs is a real licker, too. If she can't find a living body to lick, she'll lick the pillow cases till they're soaked with saliva. (Makes for a lovely surprise as you're crawling into bed!)
Unfortunately, I have no advice for you. We can't stop her licking, either, although if we tell her to stop, she'll change her target item. :D We just live with it and try to keep one step ahead of the inevitable chapping...
If you find something that works, please let me know! :D
