Help! They ate my garbanzo beans!

Or chick peas if you will.

I was heating up some garbanzo beans, and when I went to drain them in the sink a few got away. Vlad and Kiska were right there to snag them. I managed to get the few that escaped, but they both had eaten one each.

Do you guys know if chick peas are okay for them to eat? I keep getting a busy signal at my vet's office.

I don't think you have too much to worry about ancient. Here's a site for you to check out.

I didn't see anything there. I love that site btw. I'm probably worrying for nothing. They aren't acting funny or anything.

I know you didn't find anything there. That site is for things that are posionous for kitties. I figured if the beans weren't there then you have no problems. Aren't chick peas a veggie? I can't see a few hurting them. My guys have been eating all kinds of things since they have been in the house.

They sound like dogs the way they snag things that you drop while cooking.

My previous cat, Egypt, loooooooooved chick peas. I couldn't make hummus without him being all in my face to get some. While many cats may come running when they hear the can opener because they think they're getting canned cat food (pre pop-top days, at least), Egypt would be on the counter in a heartbeat if he thought there might be some chick peas on the menu. And yes, they're perfectly safe (in moderation, of course).

Thanks everybody. I'm glad it won't do them any harm, because they really liked them. I couldn't eat in peace because they kept trying to stick their faces in my plate!:frustrated: I love chick peas, next time I'll separate a few and let them have a couple of chick peas each. If I'm eating something I know they can have, I'll give them a little piece and tell them, "that's it no more." and they pretty much leave me alone.

Clm, I have 3 cats climbing and walking all over the counter whenever I try to make something to eat. Maks, thank goodness, stays on the floor. It takes me forever to actually get my food prepared, cooked and served on my plate. It's one of the reasons why I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those rolling islands. Let them have the counter, I'll use the island.
