Researchers from the scientific fraternity have done a lot of work on “commercial dog foods” which thousands of pet-lovers in U.S., Canada and other European countries use. Their unanimous opinion is surmised in a single sentence of leading dog-health author, Ann N. Martin – “Most commercial pet foods are garbage”.
This decision is supported by the quote from world-famous vet and dog-care author, Alfred Plechner – “"Because many commercial foods are woefully deficient in key nutrients, the long term effect of feeding such foods makes the dog hypersensitive to its environment. . . . Many of them are biochemical cripples with defective adrenal glands unable to manufacture adequate cortisol, a hormone vital for health and resistance to disease."
Another one from Debra Lynn Dadd, author of “Home Safe Home” says - "Many pet foods claim to be "100% nutritionally complete and balanced." There are more than forty known, essential nutrients... thus, making sure a food contains appropriate amounts of only a dozen of these nutrients can't possibly assure that a food is "complete."
So there is ample proof for avoiding these dangerous commercial dog foods and going in for a home made dog food for your loving pets. Making home food is easier and less expensive. All that you have to have is care about your pets’ healthy and long life. According to experts, you can prepare home made dog food with 40% of meat; 30% vegetables and 30% of starch.
Before changing the food habits of your canine friends, let them undergo a check up by a veterinarian first to find out their health and also the nutrition deficiencies and requirements. Because of the varied needs of nutrition, vitamins and minerals of your pets, this check up can be a starting point. As per advice, make out a good, clean, healthy and nutrition-rich home made dog food and feed them at the right quantities and at the right timings.
Then you will be happy that you made the right decision on behalf of your mute animal friends.

I have read that book. You will find that the vast majority of people on this forum are extremely well-versed in the areas of canine & feline nutrition. They are aware of the dangers of commercial foods & attempt to help others to steer clear of them. :thumbs up However, there are other canine & feline forums where the people just don't want to learn & change-fortunately, this is not one of them. :D

Welcome. :)
