Put him back in his own bowl ASAP! Bettas don't do well with other fish.

Aren't Betta's known as the "fighting Fish"?

Clean water should help him heal. Melafix added to the water may help too.

skip the melafix, get a 2g+ tank for him that has a filter and a heater. put a little gravel from your big tank in it (yuck and all, dont rinse it!) and do small daily water changes. you could add a touch of aquarium salt. maybe 1tbs per 5-10g??? dont feed him often. every other day should be fine. maybe every 3 days.

Not all bettas do well in a community tank. They need lots of plant cover, floating plants in particular, and fish in the community that won't nip their fins, so no barbs, angels, aggressive swords, etc.
I'm sorry you lost your fish, they're such beauties and so different.
