People on this board are very much pro-spaying pro neuturing. having said that please call your vet and find out what he thinks you should do ...sometimes the mom senses that something is wrong and will not tend to them. You may have to hand feed them if that's the case...but please call your vet first.
And please spay your kitty.

Your cat is still a baby herself at only a year old. If you have concerns about how the babies are doing, you need to ask your vet asap. You also need to do the best thing for your cat and spay her as soon as you can.

let me add my voice here- for whatever reason you have kittens, please make sure it doesnt happen again. regardless of whether the cats are healthy or not, you should call your vet for advice and probably a visit and if they are having troubles, a call NOW is just that much more important.

there are millions of cats euthanized in north america yearly ebcause there are nto enough homes, not enough money.... please please get yoru cat spayed as soon as possible.

I hope she's not scared off by all the angry spay posts - I think she was really looking for some kind words to go along with her reprimand, guys.

I'm sure after this little scare she's learned a little something...

I didn't read any angry spay posts here, but personally...I care more about animals and their welfare than hurting someones feelings. I think the advice was sound, ask the vet.....and suggestions to spay the cat. I think that under the circumstances the posters were very self contained. It is also important to let some people know how crucial it is to alter their pet...sometimes they just don't know.

You're absolutely right, PD. The kittens' welfare is obviously the most important thing here, the second most important being that the same mistake is not made again. I totally agree, and did not mean to offend or speak out of turn.

It just sounded to me like this was a very worried girl, who could have used a few kind words as well as the good advice given in the first post. The responses she got seemed a little curt (perhaps angry was the wrong word), not to mention that after the first poster told her to spay, two others came on and said the same thing. I'm sure she knows that spaying would have prevented this. Maybe she was waiting for the cat to be a year old for spaying, or waiting for her to not be in heat, and she escaped and got pregnant.

Things happen, and cats get pregnant. I'm going to give this girl the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was a mistake, that she's called the vet about the kittens, and that she will have her mummy spayed asap. I also hope that when she came on looking for support and answers and basically just got a couple of judgemental-sounding (to her, not me because I know) "GET YOUR CAT SPAYED PLEASE" she might be scared away from a forum that will ultimately be as helpful to her new brood as it has been for me and mine.

Please come back, Brie, and please let us know how your little kitties are doing! Welcome to the forum, we love pictures!
That's what should ahve been said in the first place, IMO.

i get an impression this poster is young... and maybe she just had a little panic... i mean we dont know the background but neutering an outdoorsy pet does make sense :) .... although that being said my dog back in the UK isnt snipped...

Well to dana thank you for your nice words. I was looking for advice not to be attacked. I WILL NOT fix MY CAT, she is my cat, and i dont belive in it. AND BY THE WAY I AM KEEPING ALL OF MY CATS. I wasnt asking for anyones personal beliefs on fixing my cat or not, i was asking for help for the kittens. So all you people who attacked me, you should really READ THE POST and think about the question before you mindlessly bable about issues that arent even related to the post. thankyou to all the other people who actually gave me advice. AND TO THE "EXPERTS" THAT THINK I SHOULD FIX MY CAT, YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS!:loser::yuck::censored:

After the OP's last comment , yes, I believe you're right.

ETA: Danaë, absolutely no disrespect intended towards you. I've been caught in the same place.

Brie, if you don't believe in fixing your cats (which I suppose is your right), do you realize that with your mummy and her partner unfixed, AND five kittens unfixed that you are keeping, that you will literally be swimming in inbred cats within six months?

Don't you worry Danaekitty........you don't look like an idiot. I had a real good laugh though when I got back to this thread. It's very, very sad that there are people out there that have these attitudes though, sad for critters anyway.

And we all still love you.

I dont know which concerns me more, the fact that Brie has come here for advice instead of going to her vet sister. Or the fact that the kittens apparantly aren't the only inbreeding going on in her family.
