Are they big black ants, or little red ones? If black, how long are they?

ive used most of these with success!! i found cinnamon works really well to repel them bbut be prepared to get A LOT!!!

borax is toxic in large quantities to cats and dogs (large being more than a tablespoon for a 2yo kid, it turns their poop blue.... thought abotu trying it myself but im not the type to go LOOKING for trouble.... not really!! i swear!!)

"Diatomaceous Earth" which is derived from the COOLEST CREATURES ON THE PLANET!!! ive never tried that one but i might just to pay homage to such neat little plants. quite amazing and beautiful.

you could try catnip first?? it seems really harmless and if you have cats....well. ;)

thats about all i have comments about. i bet the vinegar woudl work well too.

a few years ago we went on vacation, came back to find ALL of the cat food being hauled across our kitchen by carpenter ants. they couldnt get the food past where they were coming in from the cabinets.... so in a panicked fit i sprayed the whole floor and cabinets in that area down with wasp spray. it worked but we literally had to pull the cabinets off to wash everything. :o i wouldnt suggest it. :o

I read one time that you could mix Borax, water and sugar, pour it into a mason jar and have a piece of cloth soaked in the same mixture and hang it over the side of the jar. The ants should be attracted to it, crawl into the jar and die.

Not sure if this is pet-friendly or not.

Here's a site I found online, an eco-friendly ant control site.

Diatomaceous earth may irritate kitty paws, too--it's pretty gritty stuff...

What kind of handles do you have on your cupboard doors? Any way you can tie them together to keep kitties out of there and then just use a regular sweet trap?

thanx want4rain that site looks super helpfull ..

the jar idea is good except my cats would be the frist ones in it ... lol

ummm as to tieing the doors closed im not sure i thought of that .. but i dont know if i could do it tight enough to keep my cats out ( tried it in the kitchen to keep them from getting at pastas and bread but they figured out that if they got it kinda open they could just make themselves super small and get in anyway .. they are bigger now tho so maybe.... )

thanx for the tips ill tell you how it goes!!
