Ellie currently stays with my father while I work and a couple of weeks ago, he called and told me that when he got home from work, her left eye was swollen nearly completely shut. He said the eyeball looked normal, but the lid and the area around the eye were swollen. There was no visible puncture wound and Ellie didn't seem to in any pain from it. In fact, he tried to put ice cubes on it, but all she wanted to do was eat them! Because it was late evening, I told him to call me if it was still swollen in the morning and that I would pick her up and take her to the vet. The next morning, her eye was normal, so I figured bug bite or something and didn't think too much about it.
Well, yesterday, it happened again. And again, this morning, her eye is fine. My dad has scoured the yard for bees' nests. He took a picture of the eye and I'll post that tomorrow if anyone would like to see it. But basically, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas? I'd run her to the vet, but it doesn't seem like an emergency enough to take her in the middle of the night and it's always better by morning. But has anybody had a similar experience? She lets my dad touch it to look and eats and drinks water and wags her body just the same as always.
Anyway, thanks for any info you guys might have!

That's the first time I've seen the swollen eye, it's always normal by the time I get there to take a look at it. It looks awful, though. I *will* take her to the emergency vet next time it happens, even if it's late.
