I know many of you LOVE snow, but enough already....OMG,it's never ending:yell:
Last winter we used the snowblower TWICE,this year,so far TEN times with more today....well,at least we don't have to shovel:laughing:
My poor birds out there,we are feeding them twice/day and cleaning off the snow so they can eat off the ground and my Squirrels who are in matingmood:sad:
I want spring:pray::pray:
March 8th, 2008, 08:25 AM
Yup, Mother Nature needs a good talking to! We got close to 20 cm over night and another 30 on it's way, plus the high winds. Hubby had to snowblow the driveway this morning at 6:00 am, so I could get out as I have an appt this morning. He is working today (works for a company that repairs snowblowers...go figure!) so he will be on the road all day. Poor bugger!
Hope everyone stays safe this snowy weekend! :goodvibes:

The snow is never going to stop... we are never going to have spring:cry:. I can't believe how bad this year is, I can't even shovel anymore because the piles of snow are so much higher than my head I can't lift the snow that high anymore. The other night I pulled up the weather network online and it showed a storm for Saturday... then a couple of hours later it showed Friday AND Saturday, and I just wanted to cry:sad:.
Last year we had to shut my store early once due to weather... this year it's already been 3 times, and possibly again today for the safety of my staff who have to drive home.
I want SPRING!
March 8th, 2008, 09:00 AM
I'm surrounded by snow and it's claustrophobic. Hardly anywhere to walk the dogs and hubby refuses to let me walk on the road (no sidewalks in the country). Well, it's not just a road but a part of the highway system, the 132 coastal highway in Quebec. Can't really disagree with him there. A big truck could lose traction and wipe us all out.
Dogs are going stir crazy and so am I.
We have 100 acres and we cannot even access it. It's maddening!! I can't walk through 5 feet of snow and would not even ask the dogs to do that. Sheeba just falls right through.
Spring on the calendar is soon, but I don't see any sign of spring anywhere. Global warming my a$$.
March 8th, 2008, 09:36 AM
Last week we had a really nice day and it was warm, I have a pot of crocus bulbs and the snow had melted off them there were green leaves!! So I dont think it will be long! But OMG!! the snow!!! they are buried now by lots of snow...
March 8th, 2008, 09:47 AM
We have gotten about 20 cm so far and are expecting another 20, Ugggg, there is no place left to put the snow. Can you image what we would be doing had we not had that melt in January???
Wonder if this is going to be a record year for total accum. of snow?
March 8th, 2008, 10:10 AM
runs away quickly before she gets pounded
March 8th, 2008, 10:26 AM
I'm only glad it's Saturday , so I don't have to drive anywhere  theymre already talking about more snow on Wednesday :yell: :wall:

Blowing snow and snowfall warnings. *sigh*
15 TO 35 CM OF SNOW EXPECTED
THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SNOW OVER SOUTHERN QUEBEC IS CURRENTLY GETTING ORGANISED JUST SOUTH OF THE GREAT LAKES AND WILL PASS NEAR THE AMERICAN BORDER IN EASTERN TOWNSHIPS THIS EVENING. LATER ON, IT WILL MOVE TOWARD THE MARITIMES SUNDAY. THE SNOW ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM JUST STARTED OVER SOUTHWESTERN QUEBEC AND WILL INTENSIFY DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS AS IT SPREADS TOWARD THE OTHER CENTRAL AND EASTERN REGIONS. BY SUNDAY MORNING, THIS STORM WILL HAVE GIVEN SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW, STRONG TO HIGH WINDS AND WIDESPREAD BLOWING SNOW. SNOW WILL BE MIXED WITH ICE PELLETS OVER THE SOUTH OF A LINE FROM MONTREAL TO QUEBEC. MOREOVER, A WARM FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL AFFECT THE EASTERN TOWNSHIPS AND WILL CAUSE SEVERAL HOURS OF FREEZING RAIN OVER THIS REGION TODAY.

All this snow puts a damper on going out and doing things. We ventured out last night to see a movie (we really shouldn't have been driving around) and a collision occurred right in front of us. The car in front of us was turning left and was t-boned by a car coming through the intersection. People forget how to drive in these conditions. Slow down!!
March 8th, 2008, 03:09 PM
Here's a couple of pictures taken about 3 hours ago......it is now a WHITEOUT! Can't see anything outside, even the horses across the road have gone in.....
One picture is taken from my garage looking to the end of our laneway, can't see the lights at the end anymore....
the other is the backyard, yes.....that's my swimming pool under all that snow!
March 8th, 2008, 03:24 PM
yeah this is my first winter in Canada... and well montreal is white white white... and its still coming down...

March 8th, 2008, 03:32 PM
It's still snowing here, but tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny:thumbs up
I am amazed at how many people still go out and drive.
I stocked up on everything yesterday so we would not have to drive today.
Why take a chace if you don't absolutely have to:confused:
March 8th, 2008, 03:44 PM
We had a Chilean delegate come visit our university yesterday, they are heading to McGill today, then on to Laval on Wed. They are getting a true taste of a good CDN winter.:p
They left 30 degree weather to come here and they don't have proper winter clothing. Extremely warm, nice people.
March 8th, 2008, 04:16 PM
lol yeah I teach students from all over south america its a understatement to say they go into shock.... when the see the snow!!!
March 8th, 2008, 06:03 PM
Chico - it is still snowing in Toronto and the wind is strong. Shovelling is pointless because the snow just drifts and there is no where to put it. We are supposed to be going to NY tomorrow. Husband has a meeting and I have an AC points ticket. Not sure what will happen - but we are leaving at 10:00 to get there for 2:15 flight. One guy went today (he has someone to shovel his snow, we do not, despite my best efforts to find someone) and his plane was the only one to leave Toronto for NY and as they arrived at La Guardia, they were denied landing due to almost zero visibility - they almost rerouted them to North Bay (no offence to North Bay residents!) but they managed to arrive back in Toronto. I do not expect to be leaving and all other flights later in day are completely sold out. Last Feb. we were booked on same 2:15flight and it was cancelled due to weather. They rebooked us on the 5:15 flight - no surprise it was cancelled, but the 4:15 left. I did speak with AC yesterday and the lady advised me that the 4:15 was sold out but the 5:15 was available, but suggested we stay with the 2:15 - that was my feeling, because the plane has to come back to get you. So I expect a long day and a return home or a night at the airport hotel. If they don't raise rates to reflect weather conditions or cancelled flights, the cost would be about the same as the return limo home and back again. I have my list of airport hotels with phone numbers at the ready. This is just too much. My Eskie was supposed to go to the home boarder today, but in view of the weather, we arranged for transfer of the little devil today - just as well. The boarder has a 10 ft. fence in her yard - but she absolutely has to be out there with the group of Spring Break visitors because the snow is so high they can almost peak over the edge. Too much for a 57 1/2 year old with no where to pile snow and no snow blower.
March 8th, 2008, 07:56 PM
At last...it is finally beginning to slow down, I think.... I had so much to cancel today but, I still managed to get my groceries... I can only remember this much snow since I was really little in a small border town in Quebec. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny... I'm taking my camera for a walk. :D
March 8th, 2008, 08:27 PM
Ok... maybe I was wrong.. it's still snowing.... sorry for the nose prints on the window.... Bailey loves being in front of the camera....
March 8th, 2008, 08:28 PM
Opps....I think the snow is affecting my memory.... sorta.....
March 8th, 2008, 08:33 PM
It's still snowing like crazy here and the wind is drifting it right up against the doors. :wall:
Baxter and Bentley have been getting over the pond fence so we worked on that for quite a while in all this nastiness this afternoon. I let them out a few minutes ago and looked out and Baxter was inside the fenced area again. :wall: Bentley didn't get over this time at least.
Hubby is out working it again now, but it's not easy to see what you're doing out there.
The boys are loving it, but the cats and humans are hating it big time.
Wiarton Willie has a good sense of humour.
March 8th, 2008, 09:17 PM

March 8th, 2008, 10:53 PM
The current weather forcast.... http://bestsmileys.com/cold/9.gif:laughing:
It looks so pretty out though. And I have a pretty good deal, I let the neighbour's son use my big scoop to do all his driveways, he made $70 today and does mine for free! :thumbs up Plus does he have the cutest helper or what!! (think the dog's name is copper... so sweet and man does he get the snow zoomies... there are tracks all over the yards!:lovestruck: The boy (I'll have to learn his name) is also very polite... nice to see these days!
March 8th, 2008, 10:55 PM
I could've sworn I parked the car here....

Today though, the sun is shining,I must admit it looks beautiful.
Must be Rainbow sent us some sunshine:laughing:thank's!
March 9th, 2008, 08:04 AM
The snow stopped here about 6am this morning:evil:. We shoveled about 4 times yesterday to try to keep up.
March 9th, 2008, 10:01 AM
Two hours of shoveling this morning:
Our front yard this morning and our deck. The snow is higher than our deck which is about 3 ft off the ground. We have 2.5-3 ft in our front yard.
March 9th, 2008, 10:26 AM
rounds up my mood this weekend....
March 9th, 2008, 11:59 AM
We're still getting pounded with the storm.
Still in my PJs... not going outside. On strike! lol
A good day for Tex-Mex food though. Got my spicy romano beans cooking already, and will make homemade tortillas later and my special taco spicy sauce from scratch and bake a type of mex lasagna with tortillas and lots o' cheese. Yum!
Now all we need is margaritas and a roaring fire for heat, wear shorts and pretend it's not winter. lol
Nah, I'll keep my PJs on.
March 9th, 2008, 01:30 PM
we got a few cm this year. :( i remember the big snows of MI from my childhood. i know we should consider ourselves fortunate we arent under a meter or so but frankly, i *miss* the snow. i know its one of those love/hate relationships but we dont have enough of it to hate it. :(

March 9th, 2008, 02:49 PM
I get amazed that you can all manage to shovel down to bare ground, even with all the snow. I guess things up here are a bit different, though we haven't gotten all the big storms you have it's been freezing and no snow has melted at all so it's impossible to shovel down to bare ground, porch, etc. anymore. I haven't seen ground since December :D who knows how much snow/ice i'm walking on top of these days. (I might have to get worried if it starts to warm up, we might fall through )
It's gonna look so beautiful everywhere once all the snow stops falling! Like a big white blanket :cloud9::cloud9:
But, seriously, I think you guys have had enough now...

March 9th, 2008, 03:33 PM
L4H,you definetly need to invest in a snowblower, they are GREAT!!
Years ago,we made it a family-thing(3 sons) to shovel the drive-way(ours is long and double)but now,no way could we shovel, but then we are kind of oldish:laughing:
March 9th, 2008, 04:28 PM
Up here in Sudbury we have had to use the snow blower 1 time this winter. I peeked around to the back of the house and in my garden, I can see tulips slightly poking their little heads up. We must have been in the banana belt this year.
