Meat Grinder

March 7th, 2008, 03:32 PM
After months of flipping back and forth, I'm finally going to take the plunge and switch the cats over to raw. I've decided to transition from dry/canned to RAW using Instincts TC (Feline Future ( and grinding the meat to provide a similar texture to their canned food. I'll eventually switch them to bone-in meat.

My problem is that I've had a hard time finding a meat grinder. I would like a manual grinder (the electric ones are expensive). So far I've looked at Canadian Tire, Home Outfitters, Walmart and Winners/HomeSense with no luck.

Does anyone know where I can buy a nice manual meat grinder?

I'll sometimes see them in second hand shops like the Salvation Army for really cheap.

Do you have an Eastern European district nearby? You can probably find them in little moms&pops kitchen supply stores there.

What area of Toronto do you live in?

There's also eBay, if you do that sort of thing. If you change your mind about an electric grinder, check out this one: Including shipping, it would be under $120, which isn't bad. It does soft bones (larger turkey bones may be too much, but chicken should be no problem). Supposedly this model is the same as the old Tasin TS-108, which a lot of raw feeders really like.

Thanks for the responses. I'm actually in Missisauga now (too lazy to change my location). I actually work right in the Ukrainian area of Toronto, I'll check out some of the shops.

Sugarcatmom, if all else fails, I will bite the bullet and buy an electric one. It's nice to know that raw feeders actually have a brand that they prefer :D
