I just brought home an 8 week old Scottish Terrier (Rory) 3 days ago. The first day I brought him home he ate chicken and rice that the breeder told me she was supplementing him with. Since then he has not eaten anything but he is drinking lots of water. I took him to the vet yesterday and she said he was healthy just a small bit underweight but today is two full days that he hasn't eaten anything. Rory was the runt of the litter (not smaller by much) but he was the most active and feisty of all the pups and that is why I chose him. The breeder said he played so much all the time he would forget to eat and that was why she was supplementing him twice a day with chicken and rice. A friend of mine brought her full-grown Yorkie over today and Rory took one look at him and instantly came to life but the Yorkie was afraid of him and wouldn't play with him. I called the vet today because I'm worried that he is not eating and she thinks that he may have been too young to be taken from his brothers and sisters. She thinks he needs to go back for a week or two. He was fully weaned. Does anyone know what the ideal age is to bring a new pup home? What does everyone think???
