Vlad's weight

February 29th, 2008, 04:58 PM
I took Vlad to get weighed. He's 18 pounds! That means he's actually gained a pound since I took him for his wellness visit!

Okay, I really need to do something.

I've taken away the kibble. They don't need to munch on that.

I've decided that they will all each get a 3.5 oz can for breakfast and one for dinner. They all eat a little then walk away and come back several times.

I think that might be causing a problem.

I'm so afraid he's going to keep gaining weight.

It should be okay if the cats don't eat everything in one sitting, as long as there isn't one cat that stays to finish off everyone else's food. Many cats are just naturally nibblers.

If someone is snarfing all the food, then you may have to either feed more frequent smaller meals, or perhaps a timed feeder would be an option.

Good luck!!

Both him and Maks are the ones who go and try everyone's food.

I've noticed they tend to nibble the kibble more during the evening and overnight.

I'm going to try this for a couple of weeks and see how it goes.

I wouldn't be so scared if my vet hadn't said he's too young to weigh so much.
