Hi, My pup is almost 5 months and I have him on Science Diet (Lamb and rice Large breed formule-dry food). Can I feed him dry food in the morning and wet food for his evening meal? Is that gonna make him sick since GSP's are know for their issues with the digestive system?

Absolutely you can feed dry and wet. I mix canned and dry food for both their morning and evening meals.
I would find a better food than the one you are using now. There's lots of info here on the food forum on good quality foods for your dog.

I second clm's opinion to find a better kibble for your dog. There is lots of good information here as well as these two websites:

1. www.dogaware.com
2. www.dogfoodproject.com

Check out all the links at both sites. :thumbs up You may get a bit overwhelmed with all the info so just come back here and ask questions. Someone is always here to help. :pawprint:

i only give my dogs dry food since they were puppies...I believe wet food is more tasty so they may eat more which will lead to obesity...also dry food is better for their teeth. Just my opinion :)

Wet food might be more tasty but as long as you monitor how much you give them and factor it in then it really won't make a difference. I sometimes add a spoon full of wet food or some other kind of meat goodie to change it up for my dogs but I don't let them eat as much of it as they want to.

In my opinion dry food being better for their teeth is just a myth. Eating crackers or toast doesn't clean our teeth because it's hard and scratchy. Pets need proper dental care too =)

i use mush when my puppies were little and then just stop adding hot water to it once i noticed they were able to eat the dry kibble . now i gave wet added to the dry as treat . because too much wet food in small breeds can cause bad teeth and gum diseases
