My two year old female started scratching her jaw using any surface possible. She rubs it against hard and soft surfaces. It is as if she is rubbing her gums. She rubs/scratches each jaw equally. In addition so is meowing and yowling constantly.

Have you checked inside her mouth for any sores or teeth problems?

Has your kitty been spayed? The rubbing almost sounds like what most cats do to mark territory....constant yowling while rubbing in an unaltered female could be a sign of her in heat.

BTW, all of my cats exhibit this behaviour when looking for attention to, so as long as you've ruled out any medical problems, it could be perfectly normal. Is she purring and does she arch her back if you try to pet her while she's doing this?
Now if kitty isn't spayed, the yowling is going to get worse.

Geeze, I never thought of that .....I just automatically presumed that everyone gets their cats spayed/neutered. :o

My cat was scratching her jaw a lot awhile ago and it turned out she was having problems with her teeth. She had to have 2 of them pulled. Your cat may be in pain and should be checked out at the vets.
