23!! Wow. Way to go Odie! Well, for the arthritis you could talk to your vet about supplements like glucosamine and chondroitin (Cosequin comes to mind). Also, if it's bad enough to warrant pain killers, Metacam is an NSAID that is usually well tolerated by dogs. Acupuncture is another option. And don't forget about environmental "enhancements" such as super comfy beds and heating pads: http://www.khmfg.com/products/heatedDogBeds.htm

In addition to SCM's suggestions I would also recommend Cartrophen Vet (http://www.arthritis.au.com/DMOAD.2006.FINAL.pdf) injections given by your vet and Physical Therapy & Laser Therapy from a certified animal PT. I used these treatments with my arthritic dog.

I agree with the advice from sugarcat mom and growler. I also have had good results using cartophen :).

Thank to everyone for your help on odies problems, he already has the most comfy bed in the house, and we keep him warm, he is deaf and almost blind but both ends work really well. He makes our other dog lab/chow behave thanks again
