Where have they gone??

Has anyone heard from Glasslass? she didn't even respond to her birthday post back in November:shrug: What about Shamrock?
Have I missed any other missing members?

It's sad when members just disappear? I always wonder if they are okay, and just moved on (at least that's what I hope).

I feel the same way and wonder where they are. Mummummum is definitely missed as well. I also miss Ontario Greys as her posts were always very informative.

I agree - many of the long time posters have disappeared. The posters' mentioned certainly as well as others. The "flavour" of the board has changed I have found.

So if you had to put your finger on it (the "flavour" change)....what would you say has changed so much that they'd want to move on? I haven't been here as long as some of you, any idea's what it might be?

I don't know about snowdancer but IMO : weeks ago we kept getting new members who only came here to ask about BYB breeding questions..... and I find that some of the new members are not as concern as we are about our pets. that was my opinion.

It's too bad, I miss a lot of them. I agree lots of byb'ers for a while and a few others. Good thing is you don't have to talk to the people who bother you, but sometimes it's so hard to not get caught up in it.

I was wondering about...Angeldog...was that her name? When I first joined she had a dog that had bitten family members, she was working on it...and also, the lady with all the goldens and labs, 5 I think...I forget her name.

I forgot to keep checking the Mx3 thread, did anyone ever find anything out?

LOL, nothing like speaking you mind:laughing:

Yes many people left for another forum, I don't know why (I'm never in the know:o ) but there was some bickering:shrug: That forum was actually created after another big hoopla happened over here.......strange thing is, many of the recent joiners, were the ones having problems with the ones who originally created that forum!

I don't believe Glasslass or Shamrock went there though.

 I kinda thought that was the case... this forum has been clique-y, that is true. I say, good riddance as well. I am staying. I like the format and the general views (pro-spay/neuter, etc). I've been to other forums and in fact have recognized others from this one, but haven't felt compelled to post in those forums. I don't expect us all to agree, and that is fine. Most of us, I feel, share similar views toward our pets or we wouldn't be here to begin with. Pets.ca rocks! I'm addicted... :D For those who don't agree, I hope can be converted.... we can at least try, right?

ok, this might sound dumb, but whenever I read the title of this thread, I think of this song:

Simon and Garfunkel
Mrs. Robinson

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mrs Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Ok, I looked it up, its from Bookends, 1968, written by Paul Simon, first performed by Simon and Garfunkel (Ok, I am not so young). Others performed their own versions, but this seems to be the original. For other versions, refer to Frank Sinatra and the Beatles.

Well, I know this thread is sort of old... however I am just reading it now. And I must say "Good riddance" is a lovely sentiment:rolleyes: one that really lets members around here know how they are "valued"
Now, *if* these clique members all started to trickle back here away from this so called "leader" and confronted this "good riddance" would you have the gonads to stand behind that or not? Or ... is it this "leader" that you feel this way about?

clm

Peoples lives and priorities change. Some of the members that left in that group were people whose posts I usually enjoyed and whose experience was helpful. I miss them sure, but when they left the way some of them did, they turned their backs on everyone here, even if it was because of the way the board was being run, and I'm sure some members felt offended at the way they left. The "Good Riddance" remark is understandable as well as pretty mild compared to some of the past members remarks as they were departing the board. Everyone's reactions to being rejected is different. Some people could care a less, others are hurt.
If the past members come back, that's wonderful, the more the merrier. If they chose not to, so be it. That's a choice they have to make for themselves. I've not found a board with as many nice people as this one, if they think the grass is greener somewhere else, then I hope they find the friendship and caring they once had and could still have here.

Or ... is it this "leader" that you feel this way about?

i think jiorji will have gonads....big honkin ones:laughing: but why come from greener pastures:rolleyes: *if* certain members where not happy here why come back, they did leave for a reason ...

I dont get it w.
If you are talking about me in particular there, fyi, cant say i ever left.
Did I cut back in posting... yes, why? who really cares. I dont overly get as much out of forums as I once did.
does it mean I am unhappy here or happy there? not really
Too much went down here, I dont find the same "joy" as I did before, sure, but that has little to do with reasons for not being such an active member.

Either way, I almost regret bringing it up, however I personally found that things such as that comment are one good reason why many people have left.

Alright...
Jiorji... first off, hell forbid one reads around on a sickly lazy day and finds something you wrote a little rude perhaps uncalled for and comments on it

secondly... I suppose being a part of the 'others' I am for some reason no longer allowed to express a concern or ask something that i find here, thats intersting.

thirdly, if you want to talk about reading into something that isnt there, I have no idea what you are talking about with your smart assed little comment of email lists.

So, whats really your issue with me here jiorji? Is it that I find what you wrote a little condescending? or is it that I go to the "other" forum?
If you need to know, I go to many forums, I am who I am at all of them. Apparently the only thing I can see is up your ass is the fact that you dont like to have something you said called out.

umm i meant that not all the threads i post on are set up to notify me through EMAIL when someone else posts...therefore i lost track that someone commented on something i said.....calm down there's no behind the scenes secret sharing.

considering i didn't mention names...how do you assume i have an issue with YOU?? how do you know i have an issue with any particular person?? as i said....I WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY AT THE TIME!!! how do i know who did what??

I was concerned about past members (Shamrock and Glasslass to name a couple) I was concered about them as people, hoping that they are okay, not wether they joined another forum for christ sake!!!

And if you really want to talk about "rude" calling mods who give their time freely, to give us a place to post, "alter egos" I find that rude.

I`ve been around off and on for a couple of years now, though I don`t post much. I have to say there are a LOT of people who were here when I first came, and others that have come and gone since, that I feel like I`ve gotten to know and wonder from time to time what happened to them.

Erykah, I have missed seeing posts from you, and hope all is right otherwise in your world. Personally, I think it would be cool if *anyone* who`s ever been a regular, or even shared a dramatic story at some point, would pop in from time to time with an update.

My life is boring, I have no new furries or interesting stories, so I enjoy hearing about all yours.

I personally was saddened when a couple of people left, people who were very kind when I first found this Forum(Lucky Rescue and GG to name a couple),but have not lost contact with them, there is always e-mail and phones:thumbs up
I too get emotional, but not really angry, this is the Internet after all,we all have differences of opinions,I would waste too much energy getting angry at someone I really don't know:shrug:
Sadness yes,I've cried buckets in front of my monitor,at the loss of an animal or illness, abused animals etc...laughed at many of the antics of our furries, been very greatful for helpful hints, but really angry,no:2cents:

Yeah, I wonder what happened to some of them too. I know sometimes people lose interest or move on because they have other higher priorities, like a new job, or new baby, etc. Or maybe their only pet died and they can't bear to come in here. Seems like often the reason is someone has computer problems. Who knows, most times we'll never know unless the person is someone with whom we've become friends, in which case, yes, there is always email, phone etc. I do hope no harm has come to any of those who have disappeared. Most times, we'll never find out, that's just the nature of an internet forum.

I think that's fine to go join other forums - i'm personally not a member of other ones, but probably will join some others someday, if I feel I will get something out of them that I don't here (some forums are more specialized). However, I don't think I'll stop coming here, unless I don't have web access. This board doesn't seem any worse than any other board as far as rudeness goes (at least not to me). It actually seems pretty mild compared to some. And there's also a lot of good advice to be had from others experiences.

Erykah, I don't think anyone was referring to you, you have not left  I personally enjoy your posts and hearing about your pets... probably should go to the photo thread more often as I've not seen pics of your new probably giant pup in awhile... :dog:

I am always sad when members leave. I really am. But the truth is and I've said it many times is that we are a passionate board and we don't always see eye to eye on all issues. it's just impossible. So if people get really bothered about something, it is up to them to choose what's best for them. I never want that something to be to leave the board and ALWAYS try to make myself available to help solve, temper and smooth over issues.

As far as I am concerned, members can choose to leave and choose to return for whatever reason whenever they want. This is an open community with amazingly giving and passionate members. We are always here and I love that we are always here. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Of course asking where people are is ok but perhaps bringing up the nitty grittiness of why certain people left might not be so productive.

Let's just be civil please and enjoy the great community that is here now and likely to keep growing in the future.

Members as always should feel free to PM me if they think I can help in some way.

Many thanks as always,

Marko

Ohh.. and I vote for cocktails too, lol :D

Also meant to add it is sad to see people leave though - I mean, why get all upset over something and go without talking it over or at the very least saying goodbye. It's kind of rude to just leave without saying bye. I don't expect a diatribe of an explanation but it would be nice to know if not why at least that they had opted to leave. There could be other reasons- how are we to know? If you hang out with people offline, do you simply just not show up some day? Would we not call that rude?
