Frost-bit paws

Does anyone have any experience with their dogs/cats getting frost bite? Our cocker was outside (we live in Alaska) for about 15 minutes yesterday and came in holding his hind left foot in the air. While he's done this before it seemed to only be temporary, this time it is lasting much longer. Any suggestions, besides heading to the vet?

I'd get into the vet as soon as you can to have it checked out. are you sure it's frostbite? could it be injured (obvious cuts or scrapes)? twisted or sprained? nails all in tact? did you check between the toes for anything jammed in there? etc...

after a vet check, you may want to consider getting some doggy-boots (mutt luks) for your pooch.
