Hi! Ron from Winnipeg. I found this forum researching dog kibble. Married to Laurie and we have 3 kids, 14 - 20. Our house if also home to Mr. Right (approx 17 yr old cockatiel), Meeko and Pixie (tabby cats) and the newest addition to the household, Shabado (Shabba for short), who is an 11 month old female Shepherd cross. We brought her home from Darcy's ARC in Winnipeg back in September at 7 months old. 40 lbs at the time (skinny), now 70 lbs and lean, she's a big girl and still growing. This picture is from a bit over a month ago. Time to take more pictures!

Couple of days actually.

The cats and dog are not getting along yet, but I'm hoping they will come around in time. They stay mostly in the basement right now, only coming upstairs when Shabba is in her kennel.

he he "Mr Right"! :D I love the name...and he is a very handsome dude! What do Meeko and Pixie think of Mr Right? (I used to have a budgie that had our dogs cowed!)

Hi, Ron! Welcome to the board!

Thanks!

Black brindle. We'd love to know what breed is in her that gives her that colouring.

he he "Mr Right"! :D I love the name...and he is a very handsome dude!

We are his third home. His original owner was my cousin, but not long after she found her "Mr. Right", she took a job in Singapore and had to leave him behind, flying him from Toronto to Winnipeg when he lived with her sister for 16 years or so. When my cousin decided she didn't have to the time to give him the attention he deserved, she asked if we would give him a home, to which we obliged. He has settled in quite well here.

What do Meeko and Pixie think of Mr Right? (I used to have a budgie that had our dogs cowed!)

After the first few days Meeko and Pixie completely ignored Mr. Right. He never leaves his cage and they ignore him since they can't get in. Pixie took interest in my tropical fish (which I no longer keep) at one point, but it was only for a day.

Now, Shabba on the other hand would like to play with Mr. Right. I think Mr. Right would like to play with him too!

 I'm on dial up with a slow connection so I can't download the video... Very frustrating sometimes...'specially since I can upload short ones, but can't look at them once they're online!

I didn't realize cockatiels lived that long! And the kitties don't find him fascinating?!

At 70 pounds and still growing, with that brindle and those ears, I'd venture a guess that Shabba might be a shepherd/dane cross :D But I'm really bad at that sort of thing :o

They are all beautiful! :lovestruck: Hopefully the kitties come around with your pup, but I'm sure it'll happen in time. Welcome to the board! :D

I don't think trying to make it smaller would help you either.
It's been a long time since I've been on dial-up.

Cockatiels can live 25 years or more.

As for Shabba, we thought maybe some Great Dane given her size, but hard to say. Likely some lab in her with the webbing in her paws. If you stand her ears up she looks like a Shepherd though!

Welcome, Kingunie - you have a very nice fur family! I'm an ex-Winnipeger so I can empathize with you being there today with the horrid wind chill!

Shabba is a beautiful girl!
