Introducing my clan

Hi everyone, I'm new and just wanted to say hey and introduce my family. I have 3 bc's all related, the mom Tasha and her 2 boys, Wicket and Bear. I also have 1 Jack, Louise, a cat Bobbi and my big warmblood horse Gonzo.Oh and of course I quess I should add my hubby Doug This may be a little long but just wanted to let you know about my special guy Wicket:lovestruck:

Wicket has a neurological disorder involving the muscles in his throat. The University of Florida diagnosed him at 12 weeks of age after my exhausted search for hope. He had terriable pnemonia with abcesses on his lungs and I had kept him alive by tube feeding him from birth. No local vets could figure out why he asperated fluids. Still with diagnosis the University gave him no hope on living, he was so sick and nothing could fix him. Anyways long story short he is now 2 1/2 years old pnemonia free and my little miracle pup:angel2: With the help of anibiotics, ice cubes as his source of water and his own amazing spirit he lives and loves life to the fullest, he has taught me more than I ever thought one creature could.

Anyways glad to find this forum to talk to other animal lovers and now you will hopefully understand me talking about Wicket alot and my extemely close bond with him,he's my baby:pawprint:

welcome to pets.ca :D

we would love to see pics of your clan ;) For uploading pics they need to be 100kb or less, when you scroll down the page past the reply box there is a "Manage attachments" button, click on that & browse for pics from your computer, click upload & sumbit your reply

I would love to add pics but it shows up on my posting rules that I'm not allowed to post attachments. I don't understand that, I assumed you must be a member for a length of time before you were allowed to post pics. I read your post and see nothing about managing attachments.

Welcome to pets.ca :thumbs up Wicket sounds like one amazing doggy and glad to hear that he survived his ordeal. :grouphug:

You will be able to attach pictures after you've posted a few times. I think the rules were changed recently to stop trolls from registering and posting porn pics right away.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your crew. :D

Thanks Rainbow. So I was right you have to be on here a little while before you can post pics. That's fine I will just keep chating away and hopefully sone I'll be able to. Yes Wicket is truelly a miracle:thumbs up
I don't have kids and he is a little 4 legged, black & white, furry child to me. He has no idea he's a dog, why would he I raised him completely. He thinks those dog thinks are cool to play with but by no means are they equil to him:D Spoiled, never:laughing:

Welcome bcsrule. Pets.ca is a great place to come and brag about your babies. We all do it.
Wicket sounds like an amazing fighter. So nice to hear stories like that. And I have one of those "thinks he is human too" but in my case he's a she. A 13 yr old toy poodle. No way can you convince her she isn't.
I think once you have been here for a while and post more that the "manage attachments" shows up automatically. I joined right before that new rule came into affect but from what I glean from other posters it sounds like no one has it until they can post.
Again......welcome and enjoy!!

14 plus kitties,Wow you have your hands full. I thought 4 dogs,1 cat,1 fish and 1 horse was getting to be a little too much. Forgive me how silly of me one can never have enough furry friends, human ha ha:laughing: or animal. Is there a name for the disorder our pups have, you know the whole human complex thing:D

Ok,nope, just did a search on Google for that particular disorder  and can't say I found anything. :D
I think it's just we have spoiled them so much. Yours because he has been so ill and such a trooper and mine because she weighs 5 lbs and is easy to pick up. ;) And she has also suffered from epilepsy since she has been one year old so she's a fighter too.
And the being silly for thinking I have too many pets......it's all good. They are a happy, healthy bunch of kitties and are very happy together. I will point you in the direction of their first thread if you would like.

Oh please don't feel sorry for my Keesha. She is trouble on four legs. :D
She seizes anywhere from a month to 3 months apart and that's it. It's not a constant weekly thing. When she was younger she would have them more frequently. She has never been put on meds because of the infrequency of the seizures. Over time I have learned what tends to set her off and try to avoid the situations. Like, if she gets too much red meat (she's a begger when we are eating), or if she gets too stressed.
That's one of the reasons the kitties aren't in the house with us. She is so jealous. Mommy's attention isn't supposed to be on anyone but her. Even the labx is in the kitchen with a baby gate between her and us. So bad. :) But she IS the queen.

I'm glad to here it is under control. As far as the don't feel sorry, I always will for any animal with issues. This is just my nature. But I'm glad she has a mom like you to take care of her.:D

Yep, got snoopy and went looking. :o You said you had BC dogs and I wasn't sure if it was Border Collies or Bearded Collies so I thought I would look in your info.
Maybe you have to do around 20 or 25 posts then. I will be patient.

I quess the pictures could be bigger after all but I'm confused. My computer says the files are much bigger than what they show up as once downloaded. Goes to show you how much computer knowlede I have:sad: So the 1st one is Wicket thinking about going into herd mode, 2nd is him around 10wks old and last is him staring down his beloved ball before I kick it for him. He gets so intense when it comes to chasing his ball:D

Awesome, cool dogs. :thumbs up I love to watch them at work. I was watching PBS the other night and they had a special on dogs. They showed Border Collies at work- Very smart dogs. My brother in law has one and she loves her soccer ball.

You have some cuties there.

absoluetly adorable.

Can you answer a few questions about the JRT? are they really hyper? Do they have housebreaking issues? are they hypo-allergenic?
We're going to be officially dogless soon and we'd like to adopt something small.

Beautiful babies! Wicket looks like he is a very happy pup. And energy to spare. How many times do you feed him in a day? If I understand he is and always will be tube fed? Sorry for being snoopy. I like learning new things and sometimes it comes across as being a snoop.
Tasha is gorgeous! But I have a liking for that name. I had a Shepard/Collie mix that I had to pts last year because of cancer and that was her name. She also looked a lot like your Tasha. Made me cry when I saw the pic. My Tash didn't have as much white on her muzzle. She was mostly black but she was a great dog. I miss her. :candle:
Now we just need to see the horse and kitty and we will be happy. :D

sorry to everyone for how long it has taken to respond. I have been working extremely long hours recently, yesterday was a 13 hour day:yuck: Anyways I now get a few days off:thumbs up 14 kitties sorry Tasha's picture made you cry, that has to be hard seeing one that reminds you of your baby. As for Wicket, no once he was old enough we tried him on dry dog food and he can eat that normally it is just liquids he has problems with. To get water he eats ice cubes as they are solid when he chews them and swallows. He comes to you and ask for ice cubes when he needs them by looking at you then going to the fridge and staring up at the ice maker. He will go back and forth from you to fridge staring till you get the hint:D Finally here is pics of my kitty Bobbi and my horse Gonzo.

Finally figuring out how to get bigger pics in here so I will add some more or just upload new ones bigger so you can see better:thumbs up Bobbi again, then Wicket looking pathetic, that picture was taken shortly after he got out of the emergency vet when he almost died from his second round of puppy shots:sad: That is whole different story. I now take giving vaccinations very serious. Within 1/2 hour of his shots he was gasping for air and crying in pain. He was not suppose to make it through that episode or so the vets said:D He spent that night at the vets in a oxygen tent on supportive care. The next day I brought him home against vets wishes(they wanted me to give up on him) I rigged my own oxygen tent at home and slept on the floor next to him night and day for 3 days, and slowely with lots of tlc he started pullling out of it:thumbs up Needless to say he has never been vaccinated since. I just get titers drawn to see where we stand. They always come back very high:D
Which could start a whole new conversation on how I believe we over vaccinate our animals like crazy:frustrated: Anyways last one is Wicket healthy and happy staring at his ball again:D

Now I'm going picture happy:thumbs up Another one of Gonzo. My friend Peter is riding him, which does no justice to his size. Peter is a very big guy and makes Gonz look small. Next are pics of Tasha the frisbee girl. She gets some big air sometimes, even though in the second one she misses. 90 percent of the time she gets it:D She loves to jump and twist getting her frisbee.

Thanks Frenchy, I have only had two horses in my life and I was extremely lucky to get Gonz when he was only 1 year old(he was given to me)and him turn out to be such a talented, atheletic and beautiful horse. When he was 2 someone offered me 15 thousand for him, I could get much more now if I wanted(me sell Gonzo, like that will ever happen:D) Yes Tasha would love to do the dog frisbee competitions, shes an addict.

bcsrule - Me crying isn't necessarily always a bad thing. :) Tasha is a beautiful dog. So was my girl. It's good memories.
Gonzo is gorgeous! You are so lucky to have him. What an angel.
Wicket - I love that pic of him.He looks so angelic. He is so lucky to have you for his mommy. I am sure most others would not have given him that many chances. He is one heck of a fighter!! You have to admire that.
And of course I love Bobbi. Such a cutie pie. :cloud9:

Thank you 14 kitties for your nice words. Yes Wicket is a real fighter, and yes most probably would not of tried so hard to help him go on. But if anyone ever saw the look on his face and sparkle for life in his eyes even at deaths door they would understand why I continued to believe in him:D
