Hi, everyone, this is my first post. My dog's tail was run over by a truck. The vet checked him and said he was fine. Now, 5 days later, he has gangrene. They said he needs surgery and MIGHT be able to do it tomorrow. The whole tail needs to be amputated. I am concerned about the wait. Can't gangrene be deadly? Shouldn't there be some urgency? Should this have been caught earlier when I first took him in? Thanks for any info you can give me.

The Vet told you the dog's tail was FINE after being run over  & now it needs to be amputated!
My advice is to find a new vet now, have them check your dog & amputate the tail.

I agree--a second opinion would be in order here.
And welcome to the board, jlds611. I wish we were welcoming you under better circumstances. Please let us know how it goes with your dog.
