She was a mini schnauzer almost 4 months and just survived a happy xmas holiday. Friendly energetic and a very good heart just a bit mischeivous. Unfortunately, last sunday afternoon around 4p.m (Jan 4 2008 RIP) her heart stopped. The rest was very tragic as my whole family was talking.

Previously i spent the whole saturday with her, as she was sick most of the same week, but i saw a drastic improvement on saturday and she was freely jumping and licking and using her pee pad at her on convenience and leisure.,but what was strange was how desperate she was to be held and cuddled and be near me, as it is a puppy and its always energetic.

Anyway, i miss her dearly, but here is my problem. I am hearing rumours of a possible heart defect since birth. As her breath was always short after simple tasks like eating or grabbing the ball or climbing the steps. The question remains why did she die ? In front of me, in such a way? Why did the vet not say anything as me and my family were there just that same wednesday when we clearly had a range of questions about the dogs health. We were prescribed a simple antibiotics medicine needle which was very expensive and her own reassurement that the dog would be perfectly fine, in addition to an appiontment in 7 days. Which the dog never lived long enough to see. I hate to give a bad name to vets as im sure there are plently of good ones, just be careful is all i have to say on it.

She wont cover anything, PJs pet store wont cover anything. And she looked distraught and confused as she told us she cannot help us. I'm not sure what to do here, my dog is due for cremation I couldnt keep her in my freezer it was too much.

Just asking what would you do? Would you let it go?

I am so sorry for your loss, RIP little puppy:rip:

What you can do , is never buy anything from a petstore again (ones that sell animals) most of the animals that pet stores sell unfortunately come from puppy mills:sad:

The store you mentioned, is known for selling sick, and puppy mill puppies!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug: Your puppy knew it was loved, and that was a great gift for you to give.

Very often, heart defects can be hidden and difficult to detect, so it doesn't sound like your vet did you a disservice. It might just have been one of those ailments very difficult to detect.

As for the pet store, I think you should do whatever your heart tells you to do. Dealing with a pet store is often quite difficult, though, and as amatazes pointed out, it won't bring your puppy back.

If you decide to pursue it, check on local laws and regulations to find out what you can legally expect as a result, what documentation you need, and how to go about lodging a complaint.

Such a difficult time you're going through. :grouphug: If it will help, there is a forum on this board for tributes to pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. Sometimes it helps just to talk about it...you could post a tribute there if it will give you some comfort. :grouphug:

nvm i got them up, but yeah i think u are all righto n the mark with this . nothing will bring back my dog. and the vet knows she messed up. And i understand all my aggression and original hesitant reaction towards corporate stores like PJS. I never will shop there again for one http://youtube.com/watch?v=rMaL4L85mqw
