Is there anyway you can seperate the two while you are away??? Give each a litter box, food and water. They may need a break from each other for a bit. Is Cleo neutered and your female spayed??

I agree that if you can separate the cats when you are at school that would be for the best. As to what is causing the current problem, well when it happened to me it happened as my pets reached the 1 1/2 year point - they was just a month difference in age. I looked at your profile - your cats would seem to be about that age. Hope you can work things out, but be prepared to have separate living spaces for your 2 cats if they can't.

If you are worried about their safety, even as small as the bedroom is, that is the best place for one of the cats. You will need to reintroduce them to each other, and you could alternate which one goes in the bedroom that way they can smell the other cat but not fight. Who knows what caused this, could have happened while you were away, maybe a loud noise, another cat outside set one of them off and attacked the other. I would also try some calming agent such as Rescue remedy in their water and Feliway type spray or diffuser. Catnip might help. But they do need to be separated unless you can be there to monitor them or they may hurt each other. It won't necessarily have to be long term. Could be things will be fine after the other one is spayed or neutered.

It may seem mean to you that one is locked up in a bedroom, but the alternitive is for your female to live in fear that your male will attack her.

Getting her spayed may help the situation, is she in heat right now, if so she may smell a little different to Cleo?

As for what happened. Could be anything that scared your male while your female was close to him. I had a female cat that accidentally got a plastic grocery bag stuck around her neck when my male was right beside her, she ran around the house scared to death of the sound it was making behind her as she ran, scared my male too. For days after he hissed and growled at her.

I would think once Satis is fixed that things should settle down. She is most likely in heat or about to go into heat. Cats are very sensitive to that.
Up until she goes in I would think keep them in separate rooms. Even if it is just a small room they will be ok. They don't care how big the room is, just how comfortable they are in it. And if they are always being attacked it can't be too comfy to be in the same room as the other.
Don't forget when you bring Satis home after her surgery to use the baby powder trick. It works! Rub baby powder on your hands and then on Satis so she doesn't have that wonderful  vet smell. Also do the same to Cleo. That way they both smell the same.

i love the baby powder idea!! ive been trying to figure out how i was going to keep this situation from getting worse when she came home (were borrowing my moms dog kennel to set up in my living room to keep them seperated but so they can still see and smell each other ) .... as for my current situation.. one thing i forgot to add was that they arent fighting all the time .. one of the reasons im so confused ... i was starting to think maybe cleo feels left out or jellous and thats why hes attacking her?? its a strech i guess this just dosent make sense to me ...

im so happy right now lol ive finally figured out why cleo was being so strange!! my fiancee finds it rather entertaining to scare my kitties (not in a mean wy just playing i promise haha) and they never seemed to mind but when he did it tonight (by accident actually) cleo got super spooked it was as if he had just moved in .. not good .. but now that we know whats going on we can try to fix the situation.. hopefully it will all work out :D wish me luck and i would love to hear any ideas on making him feel more secure again ... thanx alot
