Alright, a friend of mine just got a new puppy. He's the cutest little brown chihuahua I've ever seen in my life. His name is fudgie and his Auntie (me) already bought him a brown argyle sweater. It was the smallest one they had and it's too big. :D She had him at the vet and he weighs a whopping 2.7 lbs. He seriously looks like Gizmo from the Gremlins. His ears are too big for the rest of his body. Anyway, I've been telling her a few things including food. She knows that stuff that is in grocery stores is bad, but for now has settled on Biljac. Now I know Biljac isn't the greatest with healthy ingredients, but it is better than the grocery store food. The vet suggested she put the dog on Purina One which I was very surprised about. The decision is ultimately hers to make, but I wanted to give her as much info as possible. I picked up Jesse's food the other day and also picked up a sample of the Orijen puppy. What I'm looking for is a list of ingredients that should be avoided when she makes her decision. I know to stay away from wheat, soy and by-products, but what are some of the harder to distinguish ingredients? Thank you. I have some pictures of the little guy that I have to download off my camera and when I do I'll post them. He's so cute!

Soooooooooo cute :cloud9:

I'd second the info on the dog food project site......lots of great info about ingredients to look for / avoid.

One kibble you might steer her towards is a new one coming out from Eagle Pack. I think their site shows that in February they're coming out with toy breed formulas in their Holistic line. I'm not sure I've heard of other companies with toy breed specific formulas, but guess I haven't looked too hard. If I had a tiny dog, I'd probably think seriously about that one. I'm sure you or your friend could email them for more specific info about the upcoming line if interested.

I also really like their company...I've had good luck with their products and they have been very helpful when I've had questions. Here's a link to their site:
