Sledding With Bailey

January 5th, 2008, 01:55 PM
Here are more pictures from sledding with Bailey that my friend just gave to me, enjoy!

Tiku telling the world we are going sledding as we drive down the road >_<

Hey, where we going, huh? Are we going over there? That looks cool! Yay!

Waiting while we set up

Coming around the bend (psst, that's a 20ft drop down to a river behind me!)

Very nice indeed. I took harley today for a 10 mins with kaylas plastic one. Not the same, but he enjoyed.
I wish I could do that, it looks so much fun....

I'm glad Harley enjoyed the work out!! I actually got my sled from a lady who used to sled with her two rotties. She had just recently bought the new sled (only used it a couple times).

Harley would get used to sledding if when he stops it would not hit him. Right now it scares him a little, but when he gets moving he is fine. I just have to slow him down to stop instead of suddenly. Do not need him injured either. :(

what kind of harness are you using?? You could use a siwash harness and then make shafts for the kid's sled rather than having rope/line. That way when harley stops, the sled stops instantly too.

sorry best I can do with pictures.
Unfortunetly I do not have that sled any more, busted...I have a cheap little green toboggan that has only very low to the ground handles.
I bought this harness from a woman in Quebec that races her dogs professionally. She measured harley, and this was the best one because he is taller than a husky. LOL

Her name is Judith Pearce

I found a picture similar to the toboggan I have :(...
except handle is in the front

That looks like a lot of fun, and they all look like they were really enjoying themselves.

:sorry::offtopic:Rottielover, that sled picture brings back a lot of memories for me. When I was young and lived up north, I had a sled just like that.

Rottielover, I have heard of Judith Pearce before but have not met her. Actually that harness is already set up so you can do shafts. You could make them out of light PVC piping and run the rop through them. Its just something solid so when harley stops the sled doesnt run into him.

Awwwww.....Sibes in their element. :cloud9: :cloud9:

Love the Spooky Sibes Shot

Should I ever find myself in Ont in winter I'm huntin' you down for a ride :D :D

Going to pick some up this morning, and will try that way.....1/2 inch pvc 3 1/2 feet each side as to the rope which is 4 foot each side.
Crossing fingers this will work. I do not want him to be scared to exercise with the sled :)

OC,it looks like they are having a great time, really doing what they love the most:thumbs up
They are also sooo beautiful:dog:
No more sledding today though,it's miserable and raining:yell:I rather have cold and snow, since it can't be summer.

Growler, hehe come on over!

Rottielover, let me know how it works out for ya ;)

Chico, uf don't remind me! Bailey was supposed to come down tomorrow for another run but I think we're going to end up doing some modifying on her jeep to be better suited for transporting dogs to races rather than sledding :(

January 6th, 2008, 11:08 AM
Wohoo....I will open my own thread :).
Thank you OC.

I want a sled like yours, LOL

We were just up north this weekend and though how great it would be to have Dani and Sheba pull us on skis once the lakes freeze over well enough to be safe everywhere. Or the roads if the lakes don't freeze, it was 5C at 9 am up there today!

Nice sledding pics OC.
