Thanks everyone! I turned 30 today! Yikes! LOL!

We are heading to the dog park this afternoon, then out for dinner. The place we are going has deep fried ice cream, have you ever tried it? It's one of the 7 wonders of the world (in my books anyway!) I got a pair of skates from the DH, can't wait to try them out.

I find it hard to get on the pc at home over the holidays, I work tomorrow so I will catch up on all the news tomorrow.

Have a great day eveyone! :grouphug:

Thanks again everyone!! The day was a good one, it was warm and sunny, and relaxing. Dinner was amazing - I had a T-Bone and DH had the beef ribs (we are beef eaters - YUM) Then for dessert we had the deep fried icecream!!

They take really cold ice cream ball, roll it in graham crakcers and pecans, then deep fry it for a few seconds, place it in a martini glass, top it off with hot chocolate fudge and real whipped cream. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I sure liked this! It's cold and hot at the same time, the crust turns hard, you have to break thru it to find the ice cream, a bit greasey but OMG it's heaven!!

For those fo you in Calgary, the place is called Halo, it's right next to the Canyon Meadows C-Train station in the SE. So good!!

And now I am 30....

Happy Birthday - I just saw this now! I hope you had a great day!!!! Lots of love and family and friends!! (To me, that is better than a thousand expensive gifts!) btw, I have tried fried ice cream - a fellow med student at Harvard who hailed from Oklahoma introduced me to it. He loves to cook (He returned to Oklahoma City area - was involved in helping with the bombing there a few yrs ago - specialized in trauma surgery). Now granted, he also introduced to fried turkeys for thanksgiving and other holidays- oh my, that was good too but I do NOT recommend doing it inside the house, lol I had it at his place when I was returning from New Orleans after I was there to help with Katrina victims (in my case, I worked with children who had cancer and no doctors that could be found anyway). If he ever gave up trauma medicine, he could be a celebrity cook, haha He is such a great guy - raises money for his library, rides one of those neat bikes for people who have difficulty with normal bikes - you know, the ones yu actually sit in (I'l find a picture) and is very active in a biking group - was even in Boston and we used ti bike together but I suspect like him, I'll have to get one of those bikes, He has arthritis- I have other issues.

Sorry to go offtrack - but yes, loved the fried ice cream!!!!

Sorry :offtopic:but here it is, it is a recumbent bike and here is a pict:

And here is a recipe for fried ice cream (I make it sometimes, it is sooo ogood! - but hard on the calories, lol)
FRIED ICE CREAM

6 scoops chocolate or vanilla ice cream
1 c. graham cracker crumbs
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg
1 tbsp. milk
Oil for deep frying
Chocolate topping
Honey

Scoop ice cream into balls; cover and place in freezer until very firm, at least 3 hours. Combine graham cracker crumbs and cinnamon. Quickly roll ice cream ball into crumb mixture and return to freezer. Beat egg and milk until well blended. Quickly roll coated ice cream balls into egg mixture, then crumbs again and return to freezer. Freeze for 1-2 hours. Heat oil to 375 degrees in a deep fat fryer or saucepan. Using a slotted spoon, lower one ice cream ball at a time into the hot oil. Fry until coating begins to brown, 10-15 seconds. Serve immediately, with chocolate topping and/or honey.

Makes 6 servings.
