mona_b June 5th, 2004, 10:08 PM Ok cat people,I need help here.
How on earth do I get rid of "butt" breath?
Casper has nasty butt breath..I guess so since he cleans it....
He is very healthy, great teeth,no infections.
But it's just gross.
So I'm thinking that brushing his teeth will help?
He must have a butt fetish,he's also licking Winnies.
He's loves to give kisses,and I don't mind,but it's his butt breath that I do mind.
Thanks guys... :D
WOODY June 5th, 2004, 10:33 PM We give our's mouth mints-breath fresheners for dogs.
Woody
WOODY June 6th, 2004, 04:09 AM .......questions using doggie breath freshners for cats- our Siamese love them.
I break up the larger doggie breath mints and each cat eats a small piece. They think(?) it is a treat.
Woody.
chico2 June 6th, 2004, 07:52 AM Mona,the breath-mint idea sounds good,if you can get Casper to eat it :D
Otherwise I don't know!!! Chico has bad breath too,no problem with teeth or gums.My problem with him,he sleeps very close to my face, actually wants me to hold his paw loosely and I get these puffs of bad breath right up my nose  I have kind of accepted the fact he has bad breath and there is nothing I can do about it,maybe it's the food, but they all eat the same food
Unfortunately Chico is one of those very affectionate cats,if I don't have his butt in my face,it's his face wanting kisses, but I don't mind that much, just hold my breath :D
mona_b June 6th, 2004, 07:54 AM Well I give Casper breath freshner for cats...It's called Pit'r Pat...But to be honest,it stinks......LMAO.
I will try him on the dogs breath freshner........... :D
chico2 June 6th, 2004, 08:13 AM Mona, what kind of treats do you give your cats,it seems to me most treats are made by Purina, with nothing but junk in them.I tried the vets Medical treats, but the cats won't eat them...the crows LOVED them :D
My cats eat only the crunchy treats...
Lucky Rescue June 6th, 2004, 09:29 AM I"ve never had a cat who didn't have bad breath.
Try giving him a raw chicken wing to chew on.
chico2 June 6th, 2004, 10:06 AM Lucky,My cats actually get weird when I try giving them anything raw, they look at it expecting it to move, then when it doesn't they leave it....as if saying"you expect me to eat that"!! :D :D
Lucky Rescue June 6th, 2004, 10:17 AM Oh I know what you mean Anita!! 99% of my cats were strays or ferals who would gobble up anything and loved raw meat.
The only cat I had gotten as a tiny kitten would do the same thing yours do. If I put down anything raw in front of her, she would become highly offended, give me a dirty look and walk away in disgust.:p
Here she is, looking haughty as usual. (RIP, Sweetpea)

Her breath was..well...just horrible!
Iggette June 6th, 2004, 10:35 AM Oh Lucky your cat is beautiful , looks like my tiger.....but then I have noticed they all have that M mark above their eyes that give them all the same look.
As for the breath thing I have always just put up with it all my cats have bad breath with the exception of one but I feed them all the same so I don't know why one doesnt have it and the rest do?
mona_b June 6th, 2004, 12:46 PM Anita,I give them the Techni-Cal treats....They love them..Winnie hasn't learned how to take them nicely...She got my finger a few times.Casper will take them nicely.Even from my mouth... :D
LR,she is gorgeous.
I have noticed Winnie's "M" is getting darker..... :D
Karin June 6th, 2004, 02:09 PM I use Maxi-Guard...put one drop on each cheek tooth, it mixes with their saliva. Maxi-Guard was originally marketed as a tarter control. I have heard from a few friends their pets still get tarter on their teeth but their breath is much more pleasent ( as good as any breath could be) Ciara has beautiful teeth so I can't argue with it. She has butt breath too and is big on kisses so I use it twice a week...sometimes more.
chico2 June 6th, 2004, 04:13 PM Lucky,I just noticed,RIP Sweet-Pea,so this beautiful cat is no longer with you :(
Reminds me of my Maine Coon,Tigger(RIP).I am severely lacking imagination when it comes to naming cats :D :D
Mona,I'll try the Technical treats,thank's!
mona_b June 6th, 2004, 09:50 PM Anita,it does work...... :D
Untill he starts to lick his butt again........
chico2 June 6th, 2004, 10:01 PM Oh well,but we give them great big kisses anyway,right :D :D
Luba June 7th, 2004, 10:12 AM You need to put something on the butt then lmao
Rub rose petals on it!!! :p
Mittens&Lara June 9th, 2004, 09:23 PM What about good old fresh catnip? My mom swears it gives her cat sweet smelling breath (and they get to have a good time when they eat it) - I give it to my cat, but I've been blessed with a cat that just has breath smelling like soft cat food (none of it is seafood).
mona_b June 9th, 2004, 09:28 PM LMFAO.
Luba,you crack me up....... :p
Casper has never been intrested in catnip.Even when he was younger.....Go figure.....
Winnie is the same way....LOL
Luba June 9th, 2004, 09:57 PM Hey Mones u think Winnie will like the Honeysuckle?
