Merry Christmas! Sledding Pics!

This year's christmas gifts to the boys was an AWESOME sled run! Bailey got most of the pics and the vid but I'll share what I have. It was an...interesting...run to say the least too! First we went to a resevoir to run but when we got about a 1/2 mile out we were suddenly faced with drifts that was up to our chests!!! With no way around them we decided to just turn back.

But the dogs were unamused by this 1 mile "warm-up run". The red boys were tired because they broke trail a lot of the way but everyone else was itching for more! We decided to drive 7km to another trail and boy was that worth it!

I didnt get any pictures on the run itself as it was too much of a compicated trail for me to ride one-handed.

But FIRST OC would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas by giving you a huge grin :D (sorry about the poor quality)

Such beautiful dogs. Can't make up my mind if I prefer the red or wolf colour.

Yeah, I'd love to try it too, but I just know I'd be scared stiff and keep my eyes shut and my mouth open :yell:

The inside of the Jeep looks nice and comfy :D

Beautiful dogs! I had the good fortune of being able to go dogsledding 2 years ago and it was amazing. We were near Canmore, AB and it was so much fun. Hubby even got to drive? is that what you call it? the sled for a short bit. Only bad part was it was a very mild day and the dog kept overheating so frequent rest stops!

Thanks all! :D

CLM, I myself am not too much a fan of the red colour. I mean dont get me wrong it looks really pretty however the red gene is often found to be linked to health problems in primitive breeds like the Siberian Husky. I'm not talking about just a red coat but the actual pigment (so a red nose as opposed to a black nose). The health problems arent severe but are noticeable. The most common are tender feet and a weak coat (that burns to a wretched crisp if allowed to be in the sun too much).

JanM, hehe they sure do love their jobs!

Allymack, I assure you it would be well worth the trip!

Sarah, uh oh cant keep your eyes shut! LOL In the trail we ran first, if you dont keep a close eye on where you and the dogs are going you'll find yourself plummeting over a cliff and into a frozen river 20ft below! LOL

KandA, I'm glad you got to experience dogsledding first hand! It truly is an awesome sport! Too bad it was such a mild day though. And yes it is called driving the sled ;)

Growler, Merry Christmas to you too!

Ancientgirl, to these guys, nothing is better than having the chance to go sledding! Although with OC, anything to do with food does come in a VERY close second!
