White Bump on Pom-Poo

Hello everyone! I'm new to the board and had a question about my pomeranian-poodle mix. She has a round white bump about 1/4 in diameter on her side that I'm curious to find out what it is. On close examination I see normal hair growth on the bump (no hair loss on the bump). Also the bump is not hard but also not soft either. She doesn't seem bothered by it when I touch it. Does anyone know what this may be?

thanks everyone :thumbs up

Sounds like a sub-cutaneous fat lump. Humans can get those too. However, it could be "meaner" than that, so you might want to mention it to the vet next time you go in.

Sheba has one as well (our Golden) and the vet wasn't alarmed, neither am I. I've felt fat-lumps on humans before and thought that was what this was, the vet diagnosed the same thing (I didn't tell her what I thought before she felt the lump).

Probably no need for concern, but have it checked just in case.

Hey Sarah, I'm hoping it's what Sheba has... I'll take a picture tonite and post once I get home. Hopefully you can help me identify it.

thanks!

Here's a few closeup pictures of the bump. Please note it's not as big as it looks in the pictures.. :D I put my thumb there for reference :) Anyone with experience can tell me if this looks like fatty tissue as what Sarah stated?

My little girl gets bumps that look just like that (I've found three) that apparently are sebaceous cysts. I guess they occur when the a hair follicle gets obstructed, but the sebaceous glands still produce a substance called sebum which empties into the clogged follicles and therefore the build-up of sebum ends up inside the cyst. The vet said that they're benign and it's nothing to worry about, but apparently they can burst either above or below the skin and it can get messy, so we get them removed and it doesn't bother her at all. Here's the smallest one Panna had:

It's probably nothing to worry about, but I'd get it checked out just to be safe :thumbs up.
