Ms. Daffy who is 17 yrs old has started scratching her fur off in ever widening patches. She is either scratching or biting herself to the point that it pains me. Does it matter what kind of dish she eats out of, the food she eats or what? Somebody help me save my child.

hey, first of all, welcome to the board and second, maybe your cat has dry skin where she is scratching the fur off, or prehaps she has fleas. either way i think you should get her checked out by a vet as soon as you can.

get her to a vet, get some flea meds.... see what they want to do about foods. they can give her a steroid shot (maybe not with her being so elderly??) to stop the itching. it is most likely fleas but a food allergy is also highly likely. if your vet DOES think its food... please please do NOT put your lovely kitty on Hills. its *not* healthy. try to find a grain free food as grains are most likely the allergy.
