OC_Spirit December 7th, 2007, 12:29 PM Today Bailey (bcmoffatt) drove out here with her three dogs (Mochi, Kena and Tiku) to run with the boys. We had an AWESOME run!!! We ran a trail that neither of us had ever run before. I actually just discovered it this summer. I've walked it often with the boys but have never run it with sled or scooter. But the dogs were amazing! Everyone did their best
Here's a little video of my view LOL

Taking a short rest at our turn around point. Kena and Ronan in lead with OC in wheel (my team), Tiku, Mochi and Bailey.

shredy December 7th, 2007, 12:38 PM AMAZING!!!!! That looks like so much fun and the only thing that could ever truely satisfy the husky! They love to run and work!
CearaQC December 7th, 2007, 12:44 PM The dogs looked like they had so much fun!!
SARAH December 7th, 2007, 12:49 PM Wow, that looked great! And not at all as fast as I'd thought! That's the main reason I never tried tying Dayak to the cart my son had, I was afraid he'd run very fast and I'm not that crazy about speed that I'm not in total control of. But you've just given me the idea that maybe, one day, when one of our dogs is no more, I may get a Malamute (calmer than Huskies, apparently) and a pair of cross-country skis and just glide around the neighborhood (the clear the streets, but no sanding, yayy!)
Thanks for sharing!
ANd yes, the dogs did look like they loved it!
14+kitties December 7th, 2007, 12:53 PM Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! :lovestruck: and :cloud9:
OC_Spirit December 7th, 2007, 01:01 PM Thanks guys!! It sure was a ton of fun!
Sarah, be warned, this video was only taken AFTER we had run about 2-3 miles and the dogs were calm enough for me to be confident enough not to have two hands on the handle bar ;) This is not what they were like for the whole run, especially not at the beginning. Also if you look at the trail, it is not packed snow which makes for tougher pulling thusly slowing the dogs more. However, you are right in that Malamutes are a lot calmer than Sibes so you may be successful in having an "easy ride" with a Malamute.
SARAH December 7th, 2007, 01:15 PM Hmmm, thanks. And also ONE dog doing all the pulling alone ... nah, Dayak could have pulled me at 30 km/hr if I'd tried, easy! OK, well we still have both Dani (2 years old) and Sheba (10-12 ish) so there's no immediate danger on the roads here yet :D unless I use one of them ...
SolaMio December 7th, 2007, 01:26 PM Beautiful dogs! They look like they're having a blast!!
