Well, after two loooong years of working Willow finally got to go to a flyball tournament this weekend. Today she was only supposed to do warm ups, get used to running in that setting, but we ended up using her in a race. Well, out of four heats our team only finished one (twice was Willow's fault as she was too excited and bobbled the ball), but it was enough to get her her Flyball Dog title!

We go back again tomorrow. :fingerscr That we bring home her Flyball Dog Excellence title. We only need to finish three more heats to get it.

It's impossible to take pics while running the dog!

I did buy this Christmas bulb to commemorate the day though.

She also got a fleecy, I know she doesn't really need it, but it was only six bucks and it's damn cute! Also, if we're out in the car and I have to run and get something, I don't have to worry too much about her getting cold quickly.

Byrd

ssshhhh it's not a 'coat' it's a 'fleecy', my dog doesn't wear a doggy coat!

Frenchy, I think that's the biggest size they have. How long is Nelly, I can check tomorrow and ship one to ya if they have her size, it might be a bit more $$ though because they cost by size, everything at the sales booth was 1/2 price.

What a gorgeous dog!!!

What kind of dog is that? I see those a lot and there's a picture of one on a dog treat bag at the grocery store but I never knew what kind it was.

She's an Australian Shepherd... red tri.

The title of this thread is wrong! She's now Willow FDX!!! She got her Flyball Dog Excellence yesterday! One of the dogs had to pull out due to injury so we ran every race and she did well, so well in fact that she also got chosen for Dream Team as best up and coming!!!

Our team came in third in Division 1 (teams in D1 are 18 seconds or faster). So, we got two ribbons, third and dream team, and two titles this weekend!
I would post pics, but I think I blew up my camera!!!!

K, here's one pic, it's from my phone so it's kinda crappy, but it'll have to do until I figure out what's up with the camera. This is right after we got the Dream Team award with the ribbon.

 Yeah. Our trainer's running around all weekend saying how proud she was of us. Now that we have the 'dream team' she almost cried and is bragging I think more than I am. Willow's going to headline the website!!!

Willow's paws are on fire! We went to a U-Fli tournament this weekend and today she ran a 4.290 second run which ranks her the third fastest Aussie in U-Fli. The fastest is 4.199, second is 4.255, third is Willow at 4.290, and fourth is 4.297, average speed for an Aussie is 4.5. We're just in the middle of the pack. The fastest of each breed gets a special award at the end of the year, so that's the coveted!

Yes, someday, but currently I'm still in a basement apartment, so there is definitely not enough room for a second dog.

Byrd - my daughter wants to get Iggy into flyball, what education would you suggest he need before even attempting it. Are there any prequisites (sp), he has good recall, trying to stay focused isn't too bad, but not 100%. Do you go to a place in Oshawa for training, I know there is one there but the name eludes me. By the way Willow looks fabulously happy.

Byrd
February 20th, 2008, 07:21 PM
She is happy, she loooooves that sport!

We go to Bowmanville, to SuperDog Central. I help train the flyball course there too. We've just started our own team, we're calling it "On The Fly" :thumbs up There are really no prereqs for flyball, good recall is great, love of balls and tug toys is good to have but we have been known to teach that. It's good to have some basic obedience.

Thanks for the info Byrd. I've heard of SuperDog Central. A girl who used to work at the shelter, I think she taught there, she was only young her name was Natasha. Willow looks so good, did you find out if she got her title yet?
Iggy is a tall, lean Husky X, do you think he would be too big and if so, do they do agility trials?
