New Born pups

CearaQC
November 14th, 2007, 10:32 PM
Not quite 12 hours old. The fat blondie is the first born.

I'll take more tomorrow when the lighting is better and bedding is changed. Will try to get some face pics when they aren't at the milk bar. Mom is leaking a bit but not too bad. Several pups have had their first pee and poo. Mom is very attentive. They are now all asleep and quiet, doing their little uncontrolled jerking movements. I'm tired but it's hard to stop looking.

Second pic is all 10. One is under the tubby and the other is under mom's front leg.

10 adorable puppies and mom who's adorable in her own right. :cloud9:

Let's hope all the puppies thrive and mom gets back her strength soon.

Feeding a high quality puppy food to mom for a while will help her keep up with the high demands of 10 puppies.

Going to be fun watching this pack of puppies grow.:D

Congratulations! They are ADORABLE!
Such a lucky mother to have found you in time. Out in the open, some of those puppies would probably have died, sooner or later.
Incredible how the firstborn is so much bigger. I'm betting it's a male :).

My cat probably thinks they look like rats too! I have to be REALLY on guard because mom gets a mean look in her eyes when kitty attempts to pass by. I fear for his life really.

Mom doesn't want to come out of the box to eat. I brought her some food in the box and while she was eating she began to growl at the pups, like food aggression. She barked at one pup but didn't bite. When food isn't a factor, she's very attentive and doesn't want to be away from them long.

I cleaned her up the best I could and got a new space for her and pups by cutting two boxes and attaching them.

It's awful cloudy and yucky outside today so there's not much good light in the house but will try to get the whole doggie family in some pics since someone asked to see mom.

What's a brindle? Is that one of the brown/black pups?

Mom lets me handle all the pups and doesn't mind one bit. I can't help myself anyway. :D

Someone told me that a dog only has 8 nipples (teets) so they said you will need to make sure you share the nipples since you have 10 puppies????

Bendyfoot is very sad. She cannot see cutest ever baby puppy pics because of being BLOCKED from photobucket-ey type stuff:sad:

CearaQC
November 15th, 2007, 03:41 PM
bendyfoot, ok I'll just do regular attachments. If you use Win XP, go to your firewall settings and/or cookie security settings, add in the site, and see if that helps.

Not to worry, my man is "fixed." Now that's off topic!

This dog has 10 nipples. I keep a close eye on everyone anyway. If I notice one doesn't have a full belly, I move the chubby ones and make sure everyone gets a meal.

Mom had liver for the first time today and loves it. She came out of the box for the first time since giving birth to get lovin' and attention. Her bum looks wet because this pic was taken a few minutes after I attempted to clean her up a bit.

Are you keeping mom? Are you her forever home? I'm assuming by reading this thread that you adopted or fostered a pregnant dog.

I sooo love the brindle, very nice colouring, is it a male or female. I would love to have it, wish I could!

Thanks for all the wonderful replies!! Makes me feel like this is worth the effort and sleepless nights. Everyone here is amazing. :grouphug:

There are  times, but overall I think it will all be OK.

Yes, this is mom's forever home now. It's only been since November 6th when she came here. We may even keep one of the puppies. Most are male, I know two are females, but the last two I forgot to check and haven't wanted to disturb them today. They are active hungry little bottomless stomach pits and can never seem to get enough.

I already have one person interested in a pup, and they are only 1 day old. They will be introduced to lots of people and a cat before they go to their own homes, and hopefully they can remind mom of what it is to play and have fun.

I really have zero idea what the cross of these pups are, or what mom's ancestry is. I'll give them a week and then take new pictures to compare growth for fun and see how they develop and resemble whatever breed.

Could be boxer, or pitty......or maybe there was more then one Daddy, especailly if this poor girl was tied outside, any male dog could have had their way with her  those blonde ones look so labbish.

CearaQC

Well I wasn't going to monopolize the forum with just my puppy pics! lol

Mom is getting eggs. I got her some liver. And some meat from our suppers. Pretty much anything she wants at this point because she's so thin. I also put warm water in puppy food because she doesn't want to eat it dry. I'm even being a servant and bringing her food/water to the box because she doesn't like to be away from it much and it's the only way I can get her to eat now. I hope this special treatment doesn't turn into a behavioral issue down the road.

Your going to keep the cute little butterball!!!:cloud9: That's great!! Any names yet?

CearaQC
November 18th, 2007, 02:40 PM
I nicknamed the black female "Cruiser." She's quite the box traveler and one of the more vocal ones, and chubby! I observe them a couple of hours a day just to see how they all act. Some are easy going, while others are more fussy, liking one particular position at the milk bar and no other teat will do. When mom leaves the box, lots of complaining!

Just noticed yesterday, some of them have 5 pads/claws on the back feet, and the others don't.

All of them are just so darn loveable... hubby said yesterday something about keeping 2 puppies instead of 1!! haha He's getting hooked too I guess. We haven't made up our minds yet. It will all be dependent on whether we can afford to feed 3 dogs.

On Wednesday I'll take more pictures for a 1 week birthday.

Here's a puppy moment I caught yesterday
