Puppies make the best pruners

I don't normally prune my clematis vines. I have 6 different varieties in the back yard and only prune them when they start to look messy.
No need to worry about that anymore. 4 of the 6 have been pruned back by the dogs to the ground. Apparently Clematis are tasty  The poor Jackmani got pruned yesterday evening.
They're munching on the rose canes too.....I'm trying to get them to stay out of the rose beds, and they're listening better when I'm out there with them, but if they think no one is watching, they're in there like dirty shirts. They can't hide the fact that they've gone in though, they get stuck in there and we have to pull them free of the rose canes that are stuck in their fur. :wall:
Getting one free that's stuck in the roses is bad enough, 2 is a real pain. Literally that is.....those roses are thorny little devils and they always get stuck in the ones in the back of the bed.
