 Can anybody tell me how to keep my 2 1/2 yr old beagle/hound mix (big dog) from barking and jumping up on people when they come into our house? This is very annoying. It's funny though, when I come in he doesn't jump or bark at me but anybody else (my husband included) he does this. Why and how can I train him to stop? Help. Thank you.

You have a couple of things to teach him. "Quiet" and "Off". Really, your best bet would be to take him to obedience classes and tell them that this is an issue. Any instructions given here (using the leash, I don't like the "knee in the chest" method), if done incorrectly, might hurt the dog inadvertently. For starters, though, tell anyone who comes in to stand up straight, fold their arms and turn their backs on him when he's jumping on them. As soon as all four paws hit the ground, praise him lavishly.
