Cashback - 2006

I saw this on DVD this weekend and I absolutely loved it.

This is a very original screenplay IMO and was nominated and won many awards. It's a quirky drama about an artist Ben Willis, (Sean Biggerstaff) who after breaking up with his girlfriend finds that he has TERRIBLE insomnia. He starts working a night job and lets his imagination run wild.

I loved this movie partly because it made sense. Sometimes when people use their imagination or dream sequences in films, those sequences just waste time and don't advance the story. The rules of logic are also often suspended beyond a point that is acceptable to the audience. They become surreal and you are 'supposed to' get into the symbolism of the dream/imagination. NOT SO in this flick. Ben's imagination totally works in this film and it all makes sense.

The supporting characters are very good as well, and the cinamatography is really cool.

I give this movie a 9/10 and I don't give those easily.

I'd LOVE to know if anyone else has seen this film and what they thought of it.
