My wife was watching the goings on of a wild mouse yesterday as it walked about the perimiter of our great room fireplace.
Our great room has one wall that is entirely covered with and built out of creek stone, including a lareg fireplace. The raised hearth of the fireplace runs the length of the room and yesterday a field mouse was observed running around the hearth looking at everything and then scooting back into the rocks. The strange thing is our three Siamese cats just sat there and watched and made no attempt to apprehend the intruder. In years past they would have attacked and caught the plaything in record time. Now, for some reason, they have no interest in this and just watch as the mouse takes free run of the house. We will have to have a refresher course on "mouse catching techniques 101".
