Dog wants to lick new kittens...is this okay?

Our female golden retriever (who has been good with cats in the past) constantly wants to lick our new kittens.....she is wagging her tail and sometimes getting down on her belly....and is especially attracted when the kittens bound around quickly. Is this licking a maternal thing or something that should be discouraged?

Sounds to me like it's a maternal thing . But I would supervise just to be safe.

Be sure your golden is always supervised around the kittens as all dogs should be :)
