Inflammatory Polyps in cat's ear

The past couple days, our cat's ear has STUNK!!! And I mean SERIOUSLY!! So this morning we went to the Vet, who swabbed out a ton of pus from a deep pocket within the ear canal. Said it's a bacterial infection and put her on drops for the next two weeks, but said he honestly did not know what caused it.

He also said there were "tumors in the ear" but said he thinks they are likely Inflammatory Polyps. I don't know much about these... have you any experience with this?

Of course, the worried cat momma that I am, I specifically asked about cancer and he said, "cancer is very low on my list of differentials"... so that made me happy.

So are these polyps dangerous?

Sorry, all I can tell you is I have some up my nose and although not fatal when they are flared up some days it seems easier if they were.:shrug: I've never heard of ear polyps, human or cat.
