chico2 September 23rd, 2007, 03:51 PM I was sitting in my backyard sipping a beer,I see this car coming,a young man jumps out and starts running.
Of course,nosy as I am I had to check:laughing:.
I thought at first there was a car-accident up the street, but then I see this dog running out in the traffic.:yell:and it's busy..
This young man and another, tried to catch the dog,a beautiful Husky, but she kept running in to the street, between cars.
I went out in the street, barefoot(what a sight I must have been:laughing:)telling people to slow down, there is a dog in the street.
Anyway, she ran in to a backyard and we managed to keep her there,by pulling a pic-nic table to block the entrance.
Everybody except me and the young man left,Humane Society was called and showed up 30 min later.
HS had no trouble putting a leash on her and she even ate out of my hands, she was limping a bit and would not let us pat her on the back,so she might have been bumped by a car.
The real happy ending came after I went home, looking outside, see this lady looking everywhere..I hopped in to my car and went after her..
She was crying as was her son,I asked if they were looking for a Husky and they were.
I told her,she was safe at HS and words cannot describe the look of happiness on this womans face,OMG it made me feel good,so the pup is now safely back home....what an adrenaline-rush:thumbs up

rainbow September 23rd, 2007, 05:48 PM Chico, thank dawg for you and the young man. I well know what huskies are like and I know how frantic the lady & her son must have been as huskies have absolutely no traffic sense. I'm sure glad your story had a happy ending. I bet that beer tasted really good when you got home. :D

What a great story!! Thx so much for sharing it! I really needed some good news today!!!!!!

chico2 September 24th, 2007, 06:27 AM Oh no,I was no hero, the young men were,if not for them, she might still be running..she was a big dog, really beautiful, but very, very scared,no collar and without these men,I don't think I would have been able to get her.
But I tell you, there is no better feeling than telling a crying owner her beautiful dog is safe:thumbs up Talk about a rush:dog:
Oh yes,my beer was flat and warm:laughing:but I had a nice cold one,after I calmed down:laughing:
Also,no I did not talk to the owner, other than saying her dog was safe, she and her son understandably ran home to call HS..
the HS-man said Huskys are notorious runners.

Only one, chico? Think I would need one to calm down, one to quench my thirst, one to share my story with hubby, and so on and so on

That's right ...I'm awful with names....I always wonder about Maddie too.
chico2 September 24th, 2007, 03:46 PM Thank's all,I am humbled:laughing:
We never heard anything more about Maddie, last we heard she was on the run again:cry:
The thing that astounded me more than anything, was that not more people got out of their cars to help.
This Husky was nothing like Maddie, she was big and sturdy, really thick beautiful coat and blue eyes, obviously well taken care of.
OMG I was soooo happy finding the owner!!!
CyberKitten September 24th, 2007, 04:04 PM You are still a hero - the others were too but you were there when needed. In my book, that is heroic. You are that husky's angel. :thumbs up
Toonces September 24th, 2007, 04:27 PM Thank's all,I am humbled:laughing:

growler~GateKeeper September 24th, 2007, 10:01 PM the HS-man said Huskys are notorious runners.
YES they definately are - they were born to run & they love to do it. :D
shredy September 24th, 2007, 11:12 PM nice work chico, I can say from experience that people like you make a huge difference. When Shade was 8 mo she jumped our fence after an early snow storm made it not so high... My ex-BF's parents were visiting and left our pups outside when they went to lunch :frustrated: Someone hit her out in front of our house and kept going, left her for dead. Someone saw her and stopped traffic, called AC and got her to the vet, who without any promise of payment did everything possible to save her. We got the message when we got home and rushed down to the hospital. She had suffered a broken vertebrae, fractured femor, fractured skull, and punctured lung. They kept her there to stabilize her and she had spinal surgery several days later. She made a miraculous recovery (LONG) and with daily glucosamine and chondroitin she never developed arthritis. I never got to thank the people who saved her life and so I will thank you.
THANK YOU!!!!!
chico2 September 25th, 2007, 07:05 AM Toonces.thank's,how did I ever miss that thread:confused:glad Maddie is safe,wherever she is:thumbs up
I don't think there is anyone on this Forum, who would not have reacted the same way I did in regards to this Husky, that's why I am a longtime member here:thumbs up
