Well we took Caleb, our new puppy, to the vet for his first exam. We got a call back saying that he has a parasite in his stool. He has Coccidia. Apparently, it could have something to do with stress and change in new ownership. Or he could have caught it when he caught him eating rabbit poop the other day. Now, he is on atibiotics for 14 days and we have to take a stool sample of Bellas to get her checked. Ugh....It's never ending with these dogs. But their worth it!!!!

Every time we increase the size of the Pack (a not infrequent occurrence in the past few years ), we keep an eye out for the three C's: Clostridium, Coccidia, and Campyllobactor! Sigh.

So I feel your pain. :o :grouphug:

But you're right--even though our vet bills are higher during the transition, it's always worth it! And the good news is that once everyone is settled in, they're less prone to the three C's. :thumbs up

Awww poor little poopy puppy! Hopefully Bella's immune system is strong enough that she won't catch it too. I seem to remember reading that one of the ways to prevent spread is to make sure the poop is cleaned up quickly and if outdoors to pour boiling water on the spot and if indoors, steamcleaning or using ammonia and boiluing water on the spot if it's a hard surface. It's a tough little bug to beat though! :grouphug: to Caleb and :fingerscr for Bella.
