Actually many, many years ago,I had a dog German Shepard/Chow-Chow mix,in those days(in Sweden)there was not much in dog-food,so other than table-scraps I bought cow-lungs at the grocery-store and boiled them for the dog, yes,it sounds yucky but he loved it.

Saw this and thought I'd comment. Angie goes to a pet botique for her dog food. One of the in store treats is Freeze Dried Lamb Lungs. Cut into little squares, they're almost like popcorn.

Angie thinks they're soooo good!;)

I just found these the other day and bought a bag. My dog loves them, but I think they are pretty gross and dont' like touching them. Not sure if i'll buy them again. Seems like they'd be fine for the dog, it's just lamb organ meat, dried.

My golden girls favorite treat is the freeze-dried lamb lung from Solid Gold. They are actually called L.A. Treats. That is the only brand of freeze-dried lamb lung we have given them, and they go crazy for it. Our vet sells RAW and freeze-dried products by Bravo! They have freeze-dried venison liver, freeze-dried salmon, freeze-dried cod, freeze-dried buffalo liver, and many other varieties. Freeze-dried is a good alternative to other treats, because it is just the meat--nothing else added, which I appreciate. Freeze-dried lamb lung sounds disgusting, but there is nothing else my girls would prefer and it is great for them (no preservatives, salt, sugar, etc.), and they are a hard treat, which means they will not build up a residue on their teeth.

We bought frozen lungs in the grocerystore, for our dog Julle in Sweden.
I had to boil it:yuck: and then add it to his canned food,it would expand like a sponge.
I believe it was probably from a cow, judging by the size.

I've never seen these in any of the petfood stores or the butcher in Toronto/ Canada. Does anyone know of a store which carries them ?

Globals , ryans pets food stores even Walmart carries in their pet section, you should find them in the same area as rawhides and bull winkles(bullysticks)

Thanks OG, when I go for the next bag of Timberwolf, I'll check there. I was looking for them in the treats section, I don't normally go near the hide/winkle things. I did ask at the petvalue in Kensington, they'd never heard of them.

The ones that I mentioned before by SG are actually Dehydrated; not freeze-dried. They are my girls FAVORITE, and they are rather inexpensive. The link below will take you directly to that product:
